Make sure you do the labs to the best of your ability! They are quite helpful. Pay attention in class because you may miss something important. Tests are usually not that hard, and partial credit is given, but still try to do your best. And do the homework, it's not hard

I already graduated from Syosset not too long ago but Calabria was by far one of my favorite teachers at Syosset. I had him senior year for Criminal justice I believe to fulfill the electives option for social studies. Honestly, an overall great and funny & lighthearted guy. Super approachable and really knows how to connect with students almost as if he were one himself. All the kids are comfortable around him and jump at the opportunity just to talk to him lol. You can tell he's really respected by everyone and is really genuine. His classes are not difficult at all so you have that going for you. Interesting material being taught and relevant to what is actually happening in the real world. Shows several fun movies that help strengthen the material being learned in class and he also encourages participation from students. Just a really chill teacher who definitely enjoys teaching and looking out for students. Syosset teachers can sometimes be pretty hit or miss but I honestly am glad I got this teacher.

Do not learn how to program anything before his "Intro to Computer Programming " class or you will be completely bored. Class is laid back and you can probably do the homework in class.. Also, the excessive humor from the first few months quickly goes away, so be prepared for that as class becomes more serious.

For the history classes, learn how to write the essays beforehand, they are very hard. For research, take shortcuts. Do not read the whole article, only the abstract, or you will have way too much work. If your hair shows up in the google meet, it is enough participation.

Dr. Dwyer will give you one of the best experiences with Calc BC you'll get at any school. She's well-spoken and encouraging and truly a great teacher. If you feel like your skills are weaker I would highly recommend you try to get in her class. She explains concepts very tangibly and visually and is personable and motivating (I did really bad on her first test but she encouraged me to stay in the class for at least another unit and I am so glad I did). She genuinely made me like math more. However, this is a difficult course and it moves quite quickly. There is HW almost every night and it's graded on correctness; I wouldn't say it's a horrible amount and it really helps you do better on tests, but it's time consuming. The coursework is difficult but def manageable. Go to her open office hours before school and during her frees if you need help, she will explain if you ask her.

For WHAP, do your textbook chapter every night. You might not sleep ever, but nearly everything you need to know will come from it. Make sure to do your homework always. When Ms. Eager offers an after-school seminar, go. You could potentially get test points back, or essay-writing tips. Also, Ms. Eager plays favorites. Try to get on her good side by participating well in class, joining Model Congress (she's the advisor), and buying her gifts.

She is a great teacher, the type you ask for a college recommendation. She is one of the realest and smartest teachers you will ever meet, and she does such a great job at keeping you on your toes and challenging you in biology honors. She knows so much about life not just through the scope of biology. This course is rigorous and is not for the faint of heart, the transition from middle school to highschool can be too much for some. If you feel you need to drop out, do so before any bad grades are acquired. Great teacher.

OMG!!! SHE IS AN AMAZING TEACHER I HOPE I HAVE HER AGAIN. She is one of my only teachers I have ever had that cares about their job and actually WANTS and LIKES to teach. She takes her job seriously and I was able to grasp everything and when I wasn't, she was always there to make sure I did. Make sure to do your homework and LISTEN IN CLASS. Pay attention during class. If you're still struggling on understanding the content, GO TO EXTRA HELP! Extremely helpful and 99% of the time during extra help, he will be going over the WHOLE unit by drawing a timeline. His extra help is pretty engaging, as in he calls on people to add on to the timeline. He goes over the big picture and calls on the students to include any specifics. Really helpful. Also, just do the reading. It's a lot but it rewards you with a good grade on his homework/reading quizzes. that carries your grade more than you think

There’s only a few formulas to know, they are on the reference sheet, do the review sheets she gives and always save them. The hw is worth more than you think so if you fall behind she can give half to 3/4 credits on the hw you missed my grades went up by 5-8 points as soon as I prioritized hw

The class 10H is easily the hardest course I've taken. Each time a new unit starts, there are over 100 terms to memorize as well as new forms of conjugations learned in class and at home. The homework load is too heavy to bear each night and it's safe to say that this class has given me a good amount of anxiety. However, with the negatives, I do have to say that I learned so much more in this class than I learned in the regular class or would have for that matter. It's a quick pace but I am nearly fluent.

Memorization is crucial, and he is a very straightforward teacher. He (almost) never smiles and he is not too laughable about jokes made in class. A great teacher of history, his approach to learning via discussing all topics in class. Great note taking will help you in this class, specifically the outline notes assigned for homework from the text book. Write everything down in class that is discussed, especially key points. Overall, he does a great job preparing you for the 2nd year of Ap world history.

I had Ms. Welch for English 9H and AP Lit and both classes were great. It's a good amount of reading/writing but super manageable. Ms. Welch is very kind and personable, -- some people have said that she seems very monotone at first, but she truly has a great sense of humor and really cares about her students. This is the hardest AP bio class at SHS. It is also the one that will prepare you most for the AP. Mrs. Yoo is really funny, personable, and well-spoken, but her class moves at an extremely quick pace and if you zone out twice you might find you missed half a unit. Personally I'm not a STEM person, so I found her class to be very hard. Her tests are very challenging and if you do well you have to study extensively or just have intuitive knowledge of the subject. If you're a junior who is genuinely interested in bio and willing to put in the work and wants to be very prepared for the AP, take this class. If you're a senior and/or aren't interested in bio (like me) maybe reconsider taking this class with Mrs. Yoo. She is great but it takes a LOT of work to do well
