Vanier College Reviews

821 Avenue Sainte-Croix, Montreal, Quebec H4L 3X9, Canada

Robert is a good teacher, but his classes are meh. He talks a lot and can ramble on the whole time about one simple question which can get very boring and confusing. He is always up to help though. If you mio him, he will answer and is very considerate. To get a good grade just make sure to take notes on what you think is important. Write your papers in advance and set up a meeting for him to read your papers. Do not use flowery language, he prefers straight journalist-like facts. 80 is a good grade in his class.

make sure you take good notes because you will need them for exams. his classes are really dynamic and i had a fun time. class goes by pretty quickly and the material is fairly interesting. make sure you to memorize the general ideas and not go into the details because he looks for a general comprehension of the material. i would totally take a course with him again

the course outline is there to help you figure out how much assessments are worth, and usually there’s a thorough explanation of the course’s LIA. so it’s best to look there for instructions. and to improve ur mark, do the textbook exercises.

I had her for Crime, Justice and The Rule of Law. Basically, the whole class semester is about a book. She goes over it in class, makes you highlight and take notes about certain passages. The final exam is based on the book with fill in the blanks about the stuff she always talk about in class (she'll usually say that is very important so you know it's going to be on the exam), a few short-answer questions and one big question about a concept from the book. I think she's a nice teacher, if you like more philosophical questions (ex: why do we have laws, etc) I think you'll like the course. To summarize: read the book, show up to class and be sure to understand and memorize the concepts as it's not an open book exam and you'll need to know everything.

read the chapters that you are supposed to go over in class, this teacher does not fully go over the information during class time but expects you to know it for the class

Take him!!! Go to class and do the assignments, ask for help if you don't understand, practice practice practice the sample tests he gives and you'll end up with at least 90% (most likely higher).

I took him for General chem in fall 2023. He's crazy, and I mean it in the crazy scientist type of way. He will do random stuff all the time (scream in the middle of the class, repeat random words, sing weird songs), but I find that good, as it keeps you engaged. He writes a lot and his notes are pretty useful so write them down. He does a lot of theory too compared to other chemistry teachers: he will make you memorize scientists and what they did. There's not much homework, he just assigns problem sets but they aren't graded, only for practice. He does 3 tests (all of them are thematic, and he always gives sample tests before) and the final exam. They aren't too hard if you study, though keep an eye on the theory part because that can sometimes mess you up. He gives a lot of partial marks so always write down your calculations. His labs are easy and he's easy on the due dates (he gives extensions sometimes). I have to say though, he might not be in the mood sometimes to answer questions after class and stuff so always ask during class. Overall, pretty good class, the teacher is very knowledgeable and funny, and it's not too hard if you study (especially the theory). I would recommend
