Take good handwritten notes, many tests/quizzes are open note and handwriting helps memorize which is very important to learning a foreign language. Challenge yourself with assignments and actually practice in class because it will help you improve. Also Canadian French keyboard is your friend!

Keep your own notes! Even though the teacher provides notes worksheets you really need to write things out on your own to up your comprehension skills, because she won't go over everything multiple times.

Engage, you get out what you put in so actually doing the reading guide and taking in the information is very useful. Using the resources she posts for tests is also incredibly useful, all of them are posted for a reason and give near identical practice for the tests.

The most important thing you can do to be successful in really any English class, but especially so in this one, is to genuinely try to connect with the material. A lot of the reading that you'll do in this class is actually very profound, and many of the books offer some serious food for thought. For me, personally, I was really able to connect with books like The Catcher in the Rye, and I think that doing so both enhanced my enjoyment of the class and my success in it.

The work we do in class is collected at the end of the unit, so if you complete those and show effort on it, they will often balance out the test grade. If you do the classwork on time and turn it in, you will be okay. The study guide covers everything that will be on the test.

Ms. Wiedemann is literally the best. some people thinks she’s rude but you have to get to know her. she’s so kind and caring and understanding! you will have so many work days so try to not talk on the rare occasion she teaches directly. also, she loves shakespeare and leonardo dicaprio. she’s the best teacher, seriously. it will make your 9th grade english 1000% better if you get her. there is a lot of essays but sometimes she doesn’t even grade them.
