I took AP Physics C with Mr. Carrol. This class has plenty of math in it, and calculus is used later on in the course (not at the beginning). I would recommend either taking Calculus BC while doing the course or taking Calculus AB before doing the course. The first part of the course is mechanics and the second part is electricity and magnetism. More concepts from Honors Physics appear in the mechanics part than in the electricity and magnetism part. On the tests, you get a scientific calculator and formula sheet (not a lot of time to use the formula sheet). After each major test, there is an activity that allows you to replace your original grade with a higher grade (higher grade represents major grade in gradebook). Homework simply consists of online practice problems due at the end of the unit and studying for tests. Challenging course but completely doable if decent at math.

Mostly a textbook/reading based class, but everything gone over in the reading + more is gone over during lecture. Make sure to pay attention and take notes during class, because lecture includes 99% of what's on the test. All tests are AP-style, involving a multiple choice section and a FR section, but they have different weightage every time. Not too difficult as a class, especially because of the curves given on tests.

The class prepares students well for the AP exam, just because of how much practice you have to do for all the different sections. Don't stress too much about vocabulary or grammar, because 4 and 5 AP are different from previous Spanish classes. You're reviewing much more information than you're actually learning, and the class is mainly over how to use the skills you've learned in the past in order to formulate coherent responses to questions via essays, speeches, etc.

Memorize all the formulas (obviously), but also do a LOT of textbook reading and supplemental learning because you sometimes won't get the right information from this class. Confer with friends who are in BC Calculus or compare your notes with theirs. Lots of AP practice in this class, but not taken seriously by anyone in there. Do practice tests under the test conditions outside of school. Good luck.

I had John Scott for AP Microeconomics. The concepts in the class are relatively easy compared to other AP classes. The class focuses on types of firms/industries and maximizing efficiency/profit. PowerPoints, videos, and lectures were used to present the information. The class has limited math and no calculators are used on tests. While the concepts themselves are mostly easy, the workload is a bit of a burden. Everyday, the class had worksheets for you to do. Some days, there were like 12 pages of homework, but other days, there were like 2 pages. Along with this, you also had textbook reading around 75% of the days. In summary, a class with simple concepts and a workload that puts a bit of a burden.

You don't really have to read the textbook, but be familiar with the key terms in the textbook, and gloss over the chapter outlines. The writing in this class is pretty intensive, but it prepares you extremely well for the AP exam! Participate in class discussions, they're only as useful and fun as you make them to be. Go above and beyond for projects, because they can boost your grade incredibly. :) Also! Be the best you can be, especially if you want a college recommendation, because Zivin/Keahey compile a selective list of who they'd give recommendations to, and release it at the end of the year.
