Mrs. Williams is an excellent teacher. However, how well you do in class depends on how much work you put in. As a reference, before tests, I would study for at least 3 days before the test (usually a week or more though) for a few hours a day. It is also extremely helpful to do all the textbook problems before the test. Williams' tests are quite straightforward and she is a generous grader. Make sure to review all your notes and ask if you need help. If you fall behind early on it is very hard to catch up. All the best! - M

AP Calculus AB: The class itself isn't too bad I guess. A lot of topics build off of previous topics, like derivatives which we use for most topics throughout the year. Sometimes the problems are really algebraic and tedious but most of the concepts themselves aren't TOO hard. A lot of the concepts also go along with the concepts of physics so it's helpful if you have already taken physics or are currently taking physics as you take this class. Some of the applications we do are very similar to physics problems and although you don't need to have a ton of physics knowledge, it definitely makes those problems easier to understand.

She sounds intimidating at first, but as you go on through the year you get a sense of the structure she wants you to write in. There will be a lot of timed writings and she will not go over reading material thoroughly with you. It is your job to read/annotate them for class discussions. Be prepared to ask a ton of questions and she will give you exactly what she is looking for. Good luck!

Physics itself is very challenging conceptually. Even if you pay attention in class it still might not fully click for you. Youtube channels I recommend are Walter Lewin and Chad's prep. You could also email Mr Z with questions since he responds to emails very quickly. The tests are pretty hard just because the concepts are hard. On the tests there are usually a few mcq and a few frq, with the mcq's being conceptual questions and frq's being problems to solve. All the formulas are on the formula sheet which is provided on all tests and quizzes. Mr. Z doesn't assign any required homework but everytime we learn a new concept we get a worksheet with a bunch of problems which I recommend doing as soon as you are handed them because the class moves fairly fast and you don't want to be stuck on the basic concepts as you progress further into a unit. Mr. Z gives checkpoints, which are usually less than 4 questions. If you get anything wrong, you can do corrections until you get everything right and your grade will be changed to 100%.
