i will always remember this class fondly. he made it fun to learn about high school biology, that's all I can say, and he was always there for his students (when it wasn't class-related, on top of being there for extra help).

For calculus BC, you need to write a lot and memorize for tests, but he is a chill teacher, and the curriculum is hard for Calc BC.

Bring your textbook! NEVER assume you won't use it because she will do spot checks and grade them. Be engaged and participate in class. NEVER look at your phone or even consider looking at it during online quizzes,

Go for the extra help and pay attention in class. If you are still struggling but you do your work, he will see that and will try to help you as much as he can. He is a great teacher, a good personality, and at first I struggled, but succeeded with his help.

Make sure you can write well and in an allotted time frame. There are a lot of essays and essay questions on tests. It would also be good to have some kind of creativity level as her projects/assignments are all creativity based (making a video, drawing, etc).

Take good notes about what he teaches in class, and engage during the review sessions (they're usually fun and competitive, so this shouldn't be hard). If possible, review the homework and your corrections before every quiz/test and you should be good. disclaimer: I am speaking from a pre-coronavirus perspective (class of 2019), so this advice might be null nowadays.

beware of his signature "cmon guys" once you hear it you know you've crossed the line, stand down or else you will have to face his unseen wrath. also beware of his scriputres, they are undecipherable to the common eye and if you do not posses the mental fortitude to gaze upon his written works, you might suffer sever mental damage. Otherwise he is very kind and if you exceed his expectations he might even reward you with a "nice job on this"

Read the textbook, look online for APUSH study guides. Even though it isn't an AP course she uses AP content and will not tell you specifics of the test. But much of what she uses has been found online. Videos are also very helpful. Stay on top of homework because her tests are very tough!

Get a tutor. Pay attention in class (well, try your hardest to) for supplement, but you NEED a tutor. Be good at math and be able to do your own independent work. If you are doing well, don't let it on to everyone else.

For the most part, be prepared for extensive open-ended writing assignments. Portfolios, worth a major assessment grade, are written on a marking period basis. It is important to be specific, providing examples for what is discussed. The class often feels one-dimensionalized-- the teacher is very knowledgable, but does not directly offer activities to further enhance what is being learned.
