i took her for forensics, and i absolutely loved the class. obviously there's going to be a decent amount of work but it's seriously so fun that it doesn't feel like anything insane. quite a few movie days and chill times, really fun atmosphere but also serious when it needs to be

Grading: A large portion of this class is based on in-class essays. His preferred writing style is completely different to the other English teachers at East. To be completely transparent, his grading standards are higher(though not by a lot) from other teachers. If you did not get an A in AP Lang, it may be better for you to consider another teacher. Otherwise, if you want to succeed in his class, pay attention during his lectures and read his sample essays, you'll see what I mean about his unique writing style. He cares way more about textual analysis of specific passages than writing broadly about the themes. Take this class if you want to prepare yourself for essays in college. Workload: There is barely any homework for this class besides assigned readings(he only requires 3 annotations per chapter, for some books none at all). Honestly you can get by with LitCharts or Sparknotes. I was taking this class alongside 4 other APs and it was totally manageable. Just make sure you have a clear idea of the plot, characters, themes and a few important scenes memorized for his essays, and practice writing under pressure. Additionally, he spends a few classes going over college essays, and I strongly recommend you to have him look over your essay. He'll give you actual, specific advice on how to improve your essay(he doesn't sugarcoat), and actually wants you to succeed. He is extremely accessible outside of class, just email him and he'll respond asap. And finally, PARTICIPATE!!! I cannot stress this enough! He pays attention to who participates during his classes and he happily bumped my grade from an 89 to a 90 because I was one of the more active participants in his class.

(I took Bio H with her in 2021, so her class may have changed. ) Workload: Homework is manageable. A couple 1-page worksheets each week, and a few projects throughout the year. Most of the workload comes from studying for tests, in my opinion. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! I found her tests quite hard(50 multiple choice questions) and it requires you to truly both memorize the material and now how certain biological processes work. Definitely my most time consuming class during freshman year. Also, extra credit carried my grade a LOT because of the weird way the grades are calculated. It's mostly trivia questions about herself and other things, there's not really a way to study for it unfortunately(ex. multiple choice questions "What's my favorite flavor of lemonade" or "How heavy was the heaviest pumpkin"). And don't worry if you do bad on the CERs, I got like straight 70s on them and still ended the class with a 92.

Mrs. Breen doesn't teach at East anymore(she moved on to better things, lol)! But I wanted to write this review just in case she comes back! (or if you go to Cinnaminson HS) Workload: She assigns a lot of work: worksheets, videos, lab reports, take home tests, and in-class tests. It's not going to kill you though. Don't worry if you do bad on the in-class tests, the take-home tests should balance it out if you work hard on them. Ended with like a 91. In class tests are multiple choice with a FRQ section. They're hard but not as hard as some of the other AP Chem teachers'. The take-home tests are mostly short response with some FRQs. She gives partial credit so don't worry if your answer isn't entirely correct.

I took Geometry H with him back in 2021, so this review might not accurately reflect the course. Workload: Medium. Doesn't assign a crazy amount of homework. But make sure you're doing all the practice you can since Geometry is very "practice makes perfect". Tests are perfectly manageable but definitely study.

A pretty easy class, even at the AP level. However, watch out for the occasional tricky reading check and timed essay–those can be problematic, especially if you sparknote or shmoop everything.

If you just do the assigned work in the class and to pay at least some attention to class, you can easily get an A. Unlike other language classes, his German class isn't heavy at all with memorization or anything of the like. Tests/quizzes are generally infrequent, and you shouldn't expect a lot of homework. A large portion of his class' grades will come from classwork.

I took English 2H(or whatever Honors English class you take in sophomore year) with her. I don't remember much about this class but homework was not a problem at all. Tests are split between vocab tests and reading checks. The vocab tests I remember were extremely easy, I studied maybe 10 minutes right before each one and got 95+ each time. And I can't remember if there were essays in this class or not, but if there were they weren't graded harshly.

Honestly just do the work for the class (computer graphics) and it'll be an easy 100. There are no tests/quizzes/homework since it is an art-based course. She generally does not do the teaching besides tools for Photoshop; instead, many of what you'll be doing comes from photoshop tutorials.

I took World Civ H with Howard in 2021. The tests are not easy but they're manageable. I bombed the first one but got 90+ on the rest, ended the class with an A. It's half multiple choice and half FRQ I believe. I don't remember there being a lot of homework. Pay attention during his lectures even if you think they're boring. Pay attention to any maps he shows you, once he asked us to label one for the FRQ section and half the class failed because they didn't pay attention to it. (He was lowk evil for that ngl). Try to make connections in your mind(what caused this, who caused this, why x did this, how did it later contribute to a later event). Do the textbook readings, like actually do them. No shade but the people who complained he was a bad teacher were the same ones that weren't doing the textbook readings or were sleeping during his class.

He was the director of jazz band when I was at East, but seems he may be retiring soon. You need to audition to get in to jazz band. It's quite time intensive, 2 after-school rehearsals a week on top of regular classes. During February-April is festival season, you may have up to 5 festivals which take up half the day.

Took Pre-calc H with him. Test difficulty subjective, depends on how good you are at math. Some of my friends found them hard, others found them easy. I found them ok. I'm pretty sure it's a few multiple choice and mostly open ended. I don't remember this class having a lot of homework. But with most math classes, practice makes perfect, so practice as much as you can.

I took English 1H with Mani(nickname) in 2021. Grading for essays is kind of inconsistent, one time I think he gave everyone a 95 or 100 because it was right before winter break and I don't think he felt like grading. His reading checks are harder than reasonable, don't rely on Sparknotes because you need to identify quotes. I got a 94 in this class.

I took AP Stats with her. She assigns textbook homework for every class but she doesn't check it unless it's a problem set packet. Stats is logic based and requires you to think. You must know how to utilize your graphing calculator to its max potential(don't worry, she goes over this). Tests are half multiple choice and half free response. I found the multiple choice mostly ok with a few challenging ones here and there. Grading on free response is quite stringent and you must use exact wording. My advice is to practice all the material she gives you, memorize her "scripts", and look up videos on Youtube, understanding the topic deeply will help you on the MCQ. I got a 90-something in this class.
