-Lots of essay writing, be thorough and avoid stating the obvious and you will be fine -Homework not very helpful -Pretend to be interested and put the slighted bit of effort into your work and he won't despise you -Journalism class is very stressful, not recommended unless you are genuinely interested

His classes are challenging, depending on if you're taking APUSH or US History A. (Obviously APUSH is harder than US History A). Mr. Hernandez basically never assigns homework and he always sparks thought-provoking discussions. Note that he does cold-call on people, and for some people that can get awkward. Just don't doze off in class, and definitely don't be disruptive. Also, if you're worried about APUSH being hard and you got him as a teacher, trust me you will be fine, his exams really aren't that hard and I have gotten a full score on all the LEQs and DBQs we took. This is not because I am extremely smart, but because he makes the rubric very clear.

Ample extra credit opportunities make it so test scores get really inflated. Some homework is graded on ACCURACY (including the Summer Assignment).

-Use pen, not pencil and remember to title and date pages in notebook, you WILL lose points for dumb things like that -Very memorization-heavy -Recommend ancient history more than modern for freshmen

take a lot of notes. like a lot of them. also annotate everything you get. and do your homework. also remember the little important details he talks about because they will be on a quiz. even if he crosses things out on the study guide, study them

All lessons done on blackboard (which is the default for the Math Department at this school). Take notes (I know that's a general statement but it's more applicable in math classes like Mr. Templeton then other subjects because the material is inaccessible once he erases it from the board). And actually do your homework; Mr. Templeton is keen enough to realize if what you're attaching is actually the questions assigned. (For example, you can't get away with just doing half the questions, or not showing your work).
