Ask questions, if you don't have the confidence to do so when the entire class is listening, then do so privately. She is almost always there during passing periods and before school too, if you want to talk to her then.

Keep up with the readings. It's a lot easier said than done, but many people struggled to keep up with the nightly readings so when there were pop quizzes many people fail them. You could participate in her class, but the most you need to contribute is during seminars about the novel, which is a grade. There's lots of time to do work, so utilize that time to work on the homework or study for other classes, but if you don't want English homework use that class time.

As a Spanish speaker, I’d say it really helps if you participate in class—answer her questions when she goes over the homework and make eye contact when she’s speaking. Don’t be afraid to talk to her directly—she respects honesty and will treat you better for it. She’s not the type to waste time talking about her weekend, and sometimes she leaves for district meetings, but even when she’s not there, make sure to do your homework—she will ask questions. Also, while she won’t stop you from using AI for “preguntas del día” or assignments, she’ll know if you’re using it and won’t say anything. But don’t rely on it—she’ll let you crash and burn on the test, which isn’t hard if you actually study. and there is a lot of presentations where you have to speak around 2-5 minutes on a topic.

propably the easiet class you can take. your allowed to use ai as long as the answer is not crazy long. teacher is the chillest teacher in the whole school. everyday I just work on the assignments for like 5 minutes maybe 3.

This class goes very fast and the actual tests are super hard as no calculators allowed and not as simple as homework problems. Plan on getting low test scores.

Don't fall behind on the homework, even if it's worth two points per assignment. You can skip problems you get stuck on, just as long as you submit that you did your work is enough. The answer keys are posted along with your assignment, but DO NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. Do the homework, THEN check your answers, THEN submit your work onto Canvas. This ensures you learn from your mistakes and you can ask questions in class before a new lesson. What really matters is the quizzes and tests, as those are heavily weighed. You are taught the lesson in class, but if you need to reference a part of the lesson or you're absent, you can always review her videos on YouTube. She'll sometimes give free periods, but don't depend on them. You can even do homework as she teaches and she doesn't care, but obviously use her as a resource.

Know your formulas and know what you're doing. Understand the concepts instead of memorizing for formulas but when it comes to the periodic table and polyatomic ions, just find a way to memorize them. There is half and half between lectures and labs. Ask questions, she loves them.

Ask questions and use your resources. I'm currently taking this class in 2020 so it might be different when you take it but, most of her stuff is posted on VHL Central as of this year. Even if she doesn't assign it there are activities for every section which are basically practice quizzes. There also videos for each section too. USE THEM! They can be found in the top right-hand corner, click content than activities. On the left of that new page click estructura. To change what section of the book you're on go to the top left and click the downward arrow than click on the section your on to get to those activities and videos.

her class is designed to help failing kids to pass math so if your a smart kid leave and join Mr albanors class. her teaching style isn't what I consider the best (in order to learn math you have to understand every single details about the terms but she doesn't really go over them since like I said, the class is build to make failing kids pass out of memorization not understanding. ). shes pretty chill. she gives a lot of hw for the fact its a non honors class. shes pretty chill. the easter egg things are just really boring and everyone lowky hates it. you get a cheat sheet for tests but not for quizzes and finals. classwork is never considered late but homework will be docked 1 point for everyday its late. easy A.

Expect very harsh grading. It is almost impossible to get A's on assignments and tests, even if you normally did so in other Honors English classes. To have a chance of doing well on tests and quizzes, read and re-read the material very closely and try to memorize every little detail. No detail is too trivial for you to be tested on. In fact, you should expect that if a detail is included in Cliff's Notes, GradeSaver or some similar site that it won't be on the test. The focus is on minor details that you normally would not pay attention to. You have to force yourself to try to remember them. And if you cannot remember them, you will do very poorly on the tests. Also, if the instructions are to skip a chapter and read a study guide instead, you want to read the chapter anyway, because details from that chapter will still be on the test. The homework load is very heavy. It does not count for a lot of points, but you will need to do well on it to try to make up for the low test and quiz grades. Also, if you think this review sounds too harsh, talk to other students that have taken Mrs. Holmes' classes.

Just pay attention in her class. Half of her class is telling the students to stop messing around and how much time they're wasting, and half is material that she'll talk about and use in tests and quizzes. Just do the small homework assignments and listen to her and you'll get an A+. Practice your French pronunciation too, it's the purpose of taking a French class.

Don't slack until the day before the test or etc. Memorize the theorums as there are many of them, especially for proofs in ch 4 and the actual geometry for second semester.

You need friends in this class or you're going to be super bored. Assignments are pretty easy, but you need someone to talk to and have fun with after you're done with it. You choose lab groups 2nd trimester, so choose wisely, kids that'll actually work.

AP Lit. Very nice class and teacher, although there are a decent amount of in-class essays because it is an AP class which can hurt for a A, but 99% of students taking AP lit are seniors so they’re mostly fine with a B. Almost no use of electronics since AP exams are in paper and he’s getting students ready for it. There are some other assignments that will hopefully make up for a low essay grade such as book notes and poem annotations, and he gives out some form of extra credit assignment each semester. Half of time tables are in groups of ≈4 or 5 and other half in rows, so hopefully you’ve got friends to sit with.

He retired this year (2022). But this is the advice I would've given to future students: Take plenty of notes on his lectures and pay attention. Also participate, as it reinforces those key terms and events. READ THE TEXTBOOK READING ASSIGNMENTS. After COVID he stopped checking if we did them, but it really helps with reinforcing those ideas especially for the AP Exam in May. Read over the packets thoroughly, vocab, and use every resource he gives you.

if your not a science kid you would defeintly learn better watching the amboa sisters. shes really nice and chill. make sure you actually pay full attention. she posts really useful gimkits like 4 days before a test so study those and you'll get a A on the tests.

Man, honestly just listen and don't be annoying and this class will be easy. While I don't agree with some of the curriculum (drafting lettering, some of the drafting work, etc. ), most of the things in class are fine. Sit with someone that you can vibe with, or else you'll be miserable. I recommend sitting next to one of your friends, and then a smart person who can help you or let you reference your work to check it. Try to complete SolidWorks lessons at home so you can do dope projects in class.

I would say mainly pay attention in class. The homework is not worth anything in the class, including notes - don't abuse this, though. Use the GoFormatives as well as the in-class lectures as studying tools to guide you through the class. Also, doing the readings (GoFormatives) is important for understanding the lectures, as he doesn't go over everything in his lectures, which he makes clear as well. Don't be afraid to ask for help - he encourages it and prefers it over students who don't ask him anything. He's really nice and is very willing to go over stuff and help you, but you have to reach out. The class might seem hard, but as long as you understand the key concepts, you should be fine. One last thing - he can be very picky at times and wants you to be exact, so make sure to proofread your tests to avoid losing out on simple points.
