- precalculus honors with ms addison is harder than the other precalculus honors classes - get a tutor, not all material is covered in class - skipped matrices/conics - there are mcq quizzes and frq quizzes - no tests (except final) - quizzes are out of four points - partial credit is given for frq quizzes but none for mcq quizzes (if you’re lucky maybe) - this means either 100%, 75%, 50%, or 0% on frq quizzes! - grade is solely reliant on quizzes/final (but there are two class participation assignments that kind of help your grade) - final is curved! - study this class more than other ones - you have to be creative in solving problems - answer the random trivia/getting to know you questions or the test will get marked a 0/missing assignment

The first semester is pretty easy, just pay attention in class, and you'll most likely be fine. Most of the time, the only homework is duolingo. It's pretty easy and not that time-consuming, just don't let it pile up. But later on in the school year she also assigns quizlets (e. x. do flashcards in this quizlet), which can be time-consuming but it's pretty helpful, especially if you're struggling. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and try to practice at home or with your friends. I found that second semester was harder, but I'm not sure if that was just me. I think the hardest part was that she sometimes thinks the class is better at certain topics than they are. So she moves on when you still haven't mastered/feel comfortable about a topic, and you have to study more on your own. Also, try to review old topics so you don't forget them and have to relearn everything for the final. This will also help you in the long term. Try practicing speaking with your friends or family early on, so when you have to do the speaking final, you don't feel completely unprepared. Also, again, make sure to pay attention in class because sometimes there's a pop quiz after slides on a new topic, and there are some questions on the speaking final about the slides she showed for the food unit. However, she doesn't grade too harshly, so if you feel like you did bad on something, don't feel too bad and stress about it.

I took all three courses of the film pathway, all with Mr. Boice, and in the class of 2025 I am being a teacher's assistant for his Digital Filmmaking Class, as well as being an Equipment manager, and I can strongly attest that to succeed in this class you just have to do your work. That is if you only want to have a grade, but if you want to actually succeed as a filmmaker, I highly encourage constant communication with Mr. Boice, since he has the best, in my opinion, philosophy for the art teacher, that is that he will not restrict you in your aspirations, but you first have to pitch him what you want and he will provide you with the resources. The help is always available in his class and the only person to blame for not getting it is a student yourself. Thus my main advise is COMMUNICATE.

Absolutely loved this class BECAUSE of Mr. Dalin. He made it interesting and easy to understand, even when things should have been much harder for us to understand. Definitely recommend. Plus, passing the AP Lit test covers a lot of college requisites.

Start working on every project early or it'll quickly pile up and become overwhelming. If you are a fast (and good) writer and follow that, you'll most likely be okay (but maybe stressed). Just don't procrastinate and underestimate the work you're given. All the projects either involve writing or are writing and a presentation.

If you don’t do well early on, DROP! It will haunt you. She is as of 2019-2020 the only Geo H teacher so she tends to do whatever she wants because there is no other teacher to tell her to not do so. Tests are hard and don’t get better. No test corrections or quiz corrections. What you get stays. Consistent homework of 30+ minutes. Questions on test are 60% what you learned and 40% challenge questions. It is an extremely hard course and the amount of time required to get an A is incredible. If you want an A, be prepared to work very hard, do 30+ minutes of homework per night (including weekends) and study for at least 1 more hour each night after. Don’t take it if you don’t have to. - 2019-2020 student

The resources she gives you is absolutely useless. Use YouTube videos/practice worksheets that you find online to help you, those will be your best friend. The problems done in class is nothing like the exams, the exams are 10x harder. Do not procrastinate.

Mr. McGill is an etalon teacher in my opinion, especially when it comes to teaching the AP US History. Here is some advise how to get the most out of his excellent teaching. 1. Participate. Always - not sometimes or often - Always. Consider it your personal failure if you haven't used an opportunity to answer a question or ask a question about the subject, because even if you wrong, Mr. McGill will always help you out in the most inoffensive way possible and if you are right, he will certainly elaborate on your response and your way of thinking. 2. Mr. McGill posts all of the work for the unit at the beginning of the said unit, so use it your advantage and get stuff done gradually. Read the book before the lecture and respond to a couple of relevant essential questions before the lecture. This is something that I regret not doing myself. 3. Be a menace in the debates. There are a lot of them in APUSH, compared to AP GOV and WHAP, and not using the opportunity to take on a point of view and stand on it is something that is going to improve you as a person and will positively influence your knowledge of the subject. Also consider taking the opposing views to yours, since it is going to improve you as a citizen. 4. Before the AP exam, Mr. McGill allows study sessions from 3:30 to 9pm and you are mad not to use them, for this is literally a week of APUSH class in a day, which will guarantee, guarantee you a five if you use every single opportunity. 5. Find a genuine interest in the US history. If you don't want to be in that class, there is no one who can help you, but unlike other teachers, in Mr. McGill's finding this genuine interest is 80% of the work done on achieving the dreaded 5 on the AP exam.

Homework is only worth 7% of the class, so even if you do all your homework for 3 months and have a perfect grade in that category, one bad test/quiz grade will wreck your final grade since tests and quizzes are worth 70% of your grade. I honestly think it's ridiculous how the grading weight is distributed. Also, maybe it's just a distance-learning thing, but the teacher rarely has time to discuss your grade and often postpones helping out with any problems you might have until the very last minute. Tldr; homework isn't gonna help your grade much and you have to pay attention because the teacher most likely won't have time to help you.

This is first time this teacher teaches AP American Government and Politics so a lot of stuff is being polished as we go, so ignore all of the quality of life criticisms right now, I am 100% sure it is going to be better next year. This teacher does his own quizzes that don’t follow College Board format - instead of 5 MCQ options he has only four. A lot of questions are not, least and except type so a lot of folks are getting it wrong for misread, so be careful and always fill out your portfolio, even extra credit essential questions. They will bump your grade up from the upsets of the test.
