If you are taking Japanese with her, she has a very strong accent, so it may be hard to hear what she is saying in English, do not be afraid to ask her to repeat herself as she understands that she may not have the best pronunciation. Make sure you are reviewing the material outside of class to learn the language better and get ahead on the material if you can, so when she gets around to it you have a better understanding.

-really understand the homework problems and example problems during the lesson because they’re usually on the tests -review regularly and practice memorizing theorems early on -tests are scaled to 100, even if there are less than 30 points per test, so be careful to not make dumb mistakes. Even small points end up being a lot when he scales it. -watch Flipped Math videos to help you understand the lesson because they’re very informative

I had her for geometry, at the beginning of the week she will give you a paper that tells you all of your homework for that week, if possible do it all on Monday, so that you are free to study for tests throughout the rest of the week. Take thorough notes and use online resources to your advantage as she is not very thorough when she talks about the material. Everyday you may be called to complete and explain a homework problem that someone is struggling with, so make sure you understand the material being given.

He will give you time to do the homework given in class, so use that time to your advantage to ask questions about the homework. When you are watching movies about books in class, take notes, as you most likely will have to write an essay on that movie later.

SPEAKKKKK!!!!! SPEAK UP IN CLASS LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. You can have a perfect 100 in tests (the easy part), and your grade will get DRAGGED down if you don't meet the weekly in-class participation quota. But other than that the class is simply amazing. She is very understanding and is willing to hear you out on many of the things that have to do with your grade. Also she sometimes gives unit tests in formats other than the "normal" format most tests come in, which takes the stress of it as well as truly gives a proper assessment of your understanding rather than basing it all off memorization, multiple choice, and free response which everyone really appreciates

The quizzes and tests are extremely difficult and he treats proper sig fig calculation as if it was the holy grail. Don't rely on Mr. Devor actually teaching you, so make sure to watch YouTube videos and maybe hire a tutor for chemistry. The notes that he provides are very confusing to understand so don't always rely on them and you should instead ask other students in the class for help. You most likely will not receive the best grade on the tests or quizzes so make sure you do your logs and projects to the best of your ability.

Mrs. Frandsen is one of the nicest PE teachers at AHS. The only time I've seen her get frustrated (with my class) is when we weren't paying attention or were hyper in health. Mrs. F's class is easy and the health isn't hard nor difficult to understand. Usually, as a class you will read the health chapter needed for homework. You will also (usually) have health quizzes on Mondays, which again aren't hard yet you should still study for them. PE with Mrs. F is tough but also is sort of fun. There are a wide range of activities that you'll do, usually swimming and volleyball are the first two. She doesn't really get mad at students who aren't fit or don't have good mile times etc.. She is more concerned about how much effort you're putting in. Mrs. Frandsen is really nice and warm to all her students. I have very severe food allergies and wasn't expecting many teachers to really understand my allergies. However, she asked me a lot of questions about them, asked me how to keep me safe, took my EPIPENs outside everyday, and really made me feel safe in her class. So overall, she is a great teacher and very nice person.

Try, he is pushing you for a reason. Make sure you get your work done, and don't forget which days are health days so you don't end up accidentally changing first, realizing that there's no one in your class on the field, frantically rushing back to change, and then running over to the J building in a late fashion.

Make sure to always do the notes that are due Tuesday and Thursday. Always study for your tests and the projects, these are worth the most. Also make sure you do your CNN 10s as they are easy 5 points.

Ms. Goto’s class is very interactive and involved. As long as you pay attention to her lectures and do the homework, the class will be extremely smooth. Ms. Goto does not grade very strictly and understands our struggles and mistakes as humans. She gives plenty of opportunities to make up lost points, so grades are usually high. As long as you understand the concepts and stay on task the class will be very enjoyable.

Just do your homework, take notes. For Period 1, he will allow people to come in a few minutes late. He also offers oatmeal, tea, and coffee, but you need to bring your own mug. Before winter break, he throws a small fresh breakfast party. For the tests, he does provide a small cheat sheet. Phones are allowed, it is your decision if you want to take notes or have a disadvantage. Probably the best you'll ever get treated in a math class, so if you have Mr. Mynster, you're lucky.

Ok, in normal biology, the grading is very light I doubt they even grade properly but that makes sense considering the amount of work they assign us every week. And honestly, this class isn't "hard" the grading isn't strict at all, but oh my gosh... This teacher CANNOT explain or answer questions for the life of them. Like respectfully, sometimes I don't even know if they know what they want themselves. And it's not even like they can't explain it, they sometimes DONT EVEN POST THE INSTRUCTIONS. For slides, they always has them, but for the physical projects that are worth more points, they don't post ANY instructions? Like I wouldn't mind the work load, but the problem is they make it UNNECESSARILY CONFUSING and COMPLICATED. And whenever you go and ask them a question they kinda respond in a way that's like "oh you didn't read it carefully" which is like NO THERE'S NOTHING FOR ME TO READ IF YOU DIDN'T PUT ANY INSTRUCTIONS. So ya. The work overall isn't hard cus they give some sort of project every week but it's just unnecessarily tedious and you really don't learn anything because no ones reading 20 slides worth of information that's just copy and pasted from Google like just read it off of Chat GPT 😭 😭 😭 😭. They also always complain about how we don't finish it in time but on average every week, you''ll have to do 14-20 Google slides as one assignment and then the other is some long project that has no clear instructions.

Ms. Summers is a very nice teacher, she teaches Japanese very well, if you have questions do not be afraid to ask them, make sure to do your homework as sometimes you may be called to answer questions on the board about the homework. If you are struggling be honest and tell her and she will help you. You are able to retake the hiragana and katakana tests an infinite number of times until you get a 100%, so you that to your advantage if needed.

If you are taking a dance course, you will have her, so before school starts during the summer work out as much as possible as you will be working out at the beginning of class and if you are not ready for it, you will struggle. Get yourself familiar with across the floors as soon as possible, Ms. Tedford also may record sections of the dance in class, so ask her for those if needed.

Quizzizz is a VERY useful resource, whether it is completing a lab, any reading assignments, or worksheets. The material is straight forward and sometimes easy, but he is sometimes confusing.

for ap hug, mr. wong will review material with you through slideshows and do worksheets in class. if you get assigned worksheets the day before in class, expect to be randomly called the next day to share answers. for geography quizzes just be sure to memorize the more well known countries. spend more time studying for tests using collegeboard resources and class worksheets. MAKE SURE to do test corrections to bump up your test grades. overall super easygoing and chill teacher.

I had Mr. Woodin for AP Lit, 2021 (pandemic online learning year). I believe what I say in this can also apply to the other courses he teaches as well. First things first: Mr. Woodin, in my experience, was a very nice and funny guy. He opens with quirky lessons that can come from places like his Facebook feed, an episode of Seinfeld, or even a trip to the parking lot to learn how to check for the oil levels in your car. There were also several instances where he let scholars share a poem they liked and lead the class through a lesson plan. When a scholar participates, he always takes time to expand upon and discuss what the scholar says, making him feel like a more approachable teacher. You can even send in some of your college essays for him to give feedback on. My biggest gripe with him, however, is that there really isn't much being done in his class. If you're taking this class to succeed on the AP test, don't expect the lessons to prepare you very well. If you're taking this class wanting to improve your English and Literature skills, then again, don't expect Mr. Woodin's class to do much for you. It felt like every day, we only had one thing in our lesson plan: one poem to read, one section of Hamlet to cover, or just one video clip. As a result, class can go for the full length (I had him while we were on online learning, so each period was close to 2 hours), or just 10 minutes; most of the time, it was the latter. There is no homework, no tests, and no readings (save for the one essay we had each semester and the last reading-presentation project). Although we sometimes have a quote we respond to, we never get feedback for what we write, making the exercise pointless except to make us write a bit. Additionally, when we covered literary works, it sometimes felt like Mr. Woodin was just feeding us his interpretations and annotations rather than letting us scholars do the analyzing; compared to the other English classes I've taken in Arcadia High, there was a lot less discussion both as a whole class and between peers. As a result, when class finishes, you don't feel like you've learned much or got your brain moving. I felt like this class was largely unsatisfactory, and oftentimes, a waste of time. This is really disappointing, especially considering that Mr. Woodin's goal for his class is getting his scholars to make reading and literature a part of their life, rather than just getting a 5 on the AP. I get that he may be letting us seniors have an easier time or give us the freedom to explore literature on our own, but as someone who wanted to be challenged in an AP class, that approach to teaching just doesn't work. If you want to make the most out of this class, I will say you would have to independently study. Follow the AP daily course, even if you aren't going to take the test. Go through the lesson books posted on Google Classroom that cover more technical material. Read ahead in the coursework, annotating and making your own arguments or essays. Lastly, ask Mr. Woodin for help after his lesson ends. I'm certain he would be glad to give you feedback on any work, discuss what you've read, clarify any questions, and give recommendations on what to read.

make sure to do the homework, as most of the questions on the tests and quizzes are based off of homework and textbook problems. also be sure to take good notes to help prepare you for the exams, and some examples on the notes are really similar if not the same as the ones on tests. you get two drop tests and two drop quizzes per semester. she gives multiple review days before tests so just finish the review on the first day and ask her any questions on the days before the tests.
