Not a good class for an average English student. Praises the ones who do well and doesn’t really help the ones who need it. Overall, wouldn’t recommend.

If you pay attention in class and do what is required to do, you will for sure succeed in this class. There is not much memorization as well, you would need to understand the key elements about the course.

Mechanics can be a hard class depending on how far you went in highschool, but he makes it easy to learn.

Read the texts he assigns you and you'll be fine. In the beginning of the semester he will give you short stories to read over the week, and next class there is a tiny quiz on them. Frequently you have to notice little details like a character eating a watermelon lol, so read them over at least like 5 times. Honestly it's a really fun class if you listen and interact

the exams mainly consisted of answering questions related to a documentary. If you ask for extensions she will gladly give you more time. If you miss an exercise, you can also ask her to retake it

Quizzes and in-class assignments add up to worth more than the tests. Be prepared to write and excessive 1500 word essay for a humanities class.

Do the little assignments throughout the year as they will ensure you pass the class, and they're fairly simple as well. For the exams, as long as you understand the material and you are specific you should be okay (i had online classes this semester so it might be different for those on campus)
