Use old tests as practice, his questions for new unit tests are often the same concepts but with different words and numbers. They're way better practice than the textbook, so just skip the textbook if you're not struggling with the class work.
People always say he is a hard marker but do not go into class with that mindset. As long as you participate and do your work, you should do well, as he explains exactly what he is looking for. I usually dislike English class as I find it to be very dull. However, this class was very engaging and the teacher is very thorough with his teaching. It made me love the class and I am now also taking extra English courses
tests are pretty easy, usually 20 multiple choice questions that are pure memorization, then primary source analysis/essay questions.
