Participation is key. Not just arriving to class, but also looking like you try your best. Also run fast or else you won't get a good mark.

I took his Chemistry 12 class. It was a very good chemistry class. If you want to do well and you are willing to put in the work, you will receive a good grade. He films each lesson and posts it online so if you miss a class or want to rewatch it, it's there. If you do all the homework (there is a lot) and understand it, you will probably get nearly 100% on the tests/quizzes. The final is optional, although I don't think anybody takes it. So, once you're done with a unit, you're done.

I was in her class for two consecutive years (Grades 9 and 10). She is VERY picky, so if you are given those "connecting and reflecting" worksheets, make sure to put in the EFFORT and CREATIVITY (do not do an example she demonstrated in class - go outside the box) and write down EVERYTHING she taught in class. Otherwise, she will give you a shallow mark for these worksheets. The same to be said for her quizzes and tests - YOU MUST DEMONSTRATE your understanding of the unit. Math 9 in her class was relatively easy, though, I spent a substantial amount of time thoroughly understanding the concepts. I think the most important part of being in her class is understanding the "why" and not just the "how". When you work through the homework, do not try to memorize how to work through those questions. In her tests, there will be very similar questions but slightly modified to be a bit more complicated. So, memorizing how to complete those questions WILL NOT help you at all. YOU MUST UNDERSTAND IT. Another important note is to COMPLETE ALL YOUR HOMEWORK. She does give a lot of homework compared to other math teachers, so if you are a very BUSY person, I recommend you to avoid taking her class. However, For math 9 & 10, her math classes set up a strong foundation for Pre-cal 11 (a lot of math teachers skip a lot of units/do not do a lot of word problems like Ms. Hyun, so some people struggled a lot in Pre-cal 11). I recommend her class if you have strong math skills or have a lot of spare time to study because you will LEARN a lot in her class. ALSO. She does frequent homework checks. YOU MUST DO THE HW QUESTIONS EXACTLY. If the question asks you to show your work for calculating and checking, you must do both. Do not skip a part of the question (like checking your work) because she could deduct Homework marks (sometimes she does, but always make sure to do it - be safe than sorry).

For the short story unit, memorize the text as it is sometimes a question to finish a quote found in the book. But if asked to explain, simply go on spark notes and you'll be fine. Also you'll definitely improve in this class, even if you don't find yourself enjoying English. The lessons will bring you to a different level of writing and the techniques will seep into your memory regardless of if you want them to or not.

The class is laid out like a job. Your teacher, Mr Jaeggle, is your boss. Your job is to learn all the ins and outs of Electronics and work and develop a working circuit board. Your Grade is determined directly from effort, the effort you put into something the higher your grade will go. Being timely efficient and undistracted is recommended in this class. He treats your grade like if you're an employee asking you before the marks are handed out, "Do you deserve: A raise, stay the same, get fired" your mark roughly relates to the question and you'll have a discussion telling the teacher why you think you deserve the mark. It's an enjoyable course and success on building a working product is only a bonus, in fact if it doesn't work you learn more and your grade reflects that, increasing. Of course this is a very hands on class and can be annoying when things don't work so some sense of patients and persistence will be of value. The class feels very homely and "chill. " The only way to fail is to do nothing, that or loose a finger because you didn't listen to the safety instructions. It's very very fun class but you need persistence and being ok with many many many mistakes. You could spend hours figuring out why a project doesn't work, you'll find out why and the feeling that you get when it works is outstanding. If you think you might like this class, do it, it will teach you much more about how real jobs work than almost any other class. If you're around, there's no harm in giving it a try.
