I was in her class for two consecutive years (Grades 9 and 10). She is VERY picky, so if you are given those "connecting and reflecting" worksheets, make sure to put in the EFFORT and CREATIVITY (do not do an example she demonstrated in class - go outside the box) and write down EVERYTHING she taught in class. Otherwise, she will give you a shallow mark for these worksheets. The same to be said for her quizzes and tests - YOU MUST DEMONSTRATE your understanding of the unit. Math 9 in her class was relatively easy, though, I spent a substantial amount of time thoroughly understanding the concepts. I think the most important part of being in her class is understanding the "why" and not just the "how". When you work through the homework, do not try to memorize how to work through those questions. In her tests, there will be very similar questions but slightly modified to be a bit more complicated. So, memorizing how to complete those questions WILL NOT help you at all. YOU MUST UNDERSTAND IT. Another important note is to COMPLETE ALL YOUR HOMEWORK. She does give a lot of homework compared to other math teachers, so if you are a very BUSY person, I recommend you to avoid taking her class. However, For math 9 & 10, her math classes set up a strong foundation for Pre-cal 11 (a lot of math teachers skip a lot of units/do not do a lot of word problems like Ms. Hyun, so some people struggled a lot in Pre-cal 11). I recommend her class if you have strong math skills or have a lot of spare time to study because you will LEARN a lot in her class. ALSO. She does frequent homework checks. YOU MUST DO THE HW QUESTIONS EXACTLY. If the question asks you to show your work for calculating and checking, you must do both. Do not skip a part of the question (like checking your work) because she could deduct Homework marks (sometimes she does, but always make sure to do it - be safe than sorry).

This advice relates to the Pre-Calc 10 class taught by Ms. Hyun. WARNING: THIS CLASS IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. LOTS OF HARD WORK IS REQUIRED IF YOU WISH TO DO WELL -Never ever use your phone during class: there is a strict no-phone policy and you will find yourself getting an "n" (not meeting expectations) for work habits on your report card if you are caught on your phone several times. -Similarly, try not to talk too much, ESPECIALLY if the teacher is explaining something. This will also cause your work habits to suffer. -The homework load in this class is very high, and you will often find yourself with more than one hour of work most nights. All homework questions are from the textbook. -Preparation materials for the unit tests are, unfortunately, often inadequate, The majority of the test questions are noticeably more difficult than the homework questions. YOU WILL NOT GET AN "A" IF YOU DO NOT SPEND A DECENT AMOUNT OF TIME STUDYING. -Retests are offered if you happen to fail a unit test, though you have to do a lot of work to be allowed to do one. All homework assignments from the unit, as well as all questions in the extra prep worksheets, need to be done correctly and submitted if you want to do a re-test. Thankfully, you get around two weeks to do all this. -The final is very difficult and is worth 30% of the grade. It is essential to spend a lot of time preparing for it or you are almost certain to fail.
