- Do the vocab as soon as possible. Everyone collectively agrees that there is a ton of vocab and it feels like too much, but you still need to do it. It will be a larger part of your grade than you expect. - She is hypersensitive about cheating. She looks for writing on the laptops, writing underneath the laptops, writing on you, and the whole test is in respondus. My advice: if you’re trying to put the effort into cheating and getting around her checks, just put that effort into studying instead. I promise it will pay off. - Don’t wait to start the packets. She gives her homework in the form of packets, often multiple that are due at one time. It may not seem like a lot, but it feels like it when you’re trying to finish 3 packets at 2:00 am that are all due that day. Don’t force yourself to go through that and just plan out your work. - Though most people don’t know it, she will help you when you need it. She puts in the time to help anyone who asks for it. Her email is unreliable, so talk to her in person and work out some time where you can meet with her and she can help if you’re struggling. - Good Luck!

Don't procrastinate and reach out for help if you need it! Mr. Dougherty, while a little awkward at times, is one of the kindest teachers I've ever had! He genuinely cares about his students and wants you to do well. If you reach out, he will help you succeed.

Find the Quizlets if you want an easy year homework wise. (just search the full name of the chapter and you will find it with ellis next to it. ) The test essays are hard, they always killed my test grade. Give yourself three days to study the information. HAND IN YOUR CURRENT EVENT AND POLITICAL CARTOON AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. If you do all that stuff then you can at least pull off a B.

Make sure that you proofread your essays or you're not passing her class. The essays are so easy to tank and get a B or a C. Reading checks or actively learn are not that bad and are easy to pass.

She will give you very short notices for when essays are due, so you have to be good at writing essays quickly. She doesn't grade them harshly though, she cares more about quantity than quality. The tests will almost always be very similar to the study guides she hands out, so make sure to study those instead of the book.

- Do the reading for the chapter. It seems like a lot sometimes, but it makes a huge difference in how you do on the class. It makes vocab a ton easier and you feel more prepared to take notes during class. - It will take you a while to get used to the essay style he’s looking for. (LEQ and DBQ) but you will get it eventually, so don’t give up on it. - Quizlet Quizlet Quizlet. You can find many premade vocab quizlets for the sections and it will make your life easier. I only warn that it doesn’t always have the information he’s looking for regarding the vocab, but this combined with the reading should guarantee you a good grade. - The HAPIs are pretty much free points, dont worry too much about them, just answer the questions with 2-3 sentences and you will be fine. - Don’t underestimate the multiple choice quizzes. They only have 3-4 questions in there for a reason. You will realize they are usually worse than the essays. - Take Notes. He makes it easy to do them, so take advantage of that and you will do fine. - Good Luck!

You will have the sheets handy for your tests, but the class will be a lot easier if you memorize at least some of it. Ask questions if you have them!
