Memorize your figurative language terms! And I don't mean just a general idea I mean the exact definition because she will call you out on it and she will cold call. Despite this embarrassment, she's really great! The tests are all short answers so know the books well with easy evidence in your head to quote on the fly. Spark notes is definitely a good place to start but you will need to know the books really well so you're better off reading the books.

She's a really great teacher! She's intimidating for sure but once you get to know her she's really amazing and helpful. Reach out with enough time before deadlines if you actually want to get help, otherwise she'll scold you for being unprepared.
