Anyone who takes physics has passed algebra, so the only thing which makes the algebra hard for them is going between abstract formulas and their physical connection. The best advice I can give is to develop mental flexibility. Sometimes, a ball's motion is just 5 symbols, but in part b of the problem, it's the movement of an actual ball, with all the resultant physical effects, so just try to think about everything in both ways, math and physical connection.

The classes are very fast paced and lots of work is required. There is a lot of textbook work, and teaching is a hands off experience for the most part. If you ask questions, it can help you understand more but overall the classes are difficult and have a relatively heavy workload.
