Class is poorly taught. What is lectured on the board does not reflect the level of difficulty seen on tests and homework assignments. Study using the problems she assigns and memorize solving methods that YOU find helpful, and hope for the best.

Mrs. Shepard has a hard time finding the balance of level of difficulty that she should be using to teach physics. We are currently doing a unit we did in 7th grade and there is no progression. It seems counter productive as we are seniors in high school. Mrs. Shepard speaks to you in a condescending manner, and makes it hard to ask for help. She does not provide helpful constructive feedback via email or in person. Her most common answer is to “use the problem solving process” and that’s all you have to go on. Your grade tends to suffer when you are forced to teach yourself. Although this is a helpful skill for the real world, we have teachers for a reason. My friend is out with the flu and emailed her to ask what specific assignments to work on over the next week at home, and Mrs. Shepard responded saying “I already responded to your email. ” Although we do fun labs such as the flying pig lab or slinky’s and such, most of class time is exceedingly boring and could be taught in a more hands on way with less lecturing over content we have learned since middle school. We have 70 minute bells now and on Monday Feb. 3rd we sat there while she did 4 problems on the board. I have not enjoyed this class or Mrs. Shepard, but I hope that she improves over the next couple years and that no other classes have to endure a year like this 2019-2020 school year has been. All the best, I am sure she means well.
