Class of 2028
Compared to Ms. Ju and Dr. Kumar, Mr. Lell wins best Pre-Calc Honors teacher by a landslide. He will teach topics in a way that guarantees that you know what you're doing by the tests and quizzes, as long as you listen. About 20-40% of each class is a lecture, and the rest of the block is free for you to practice the topics on OneNote in your group. He's always walking around in case you have any questions or if you just want to talk about anything in general. The class itself is easy as long as you have a strong math foundation and memorize the formulas as soon as possible. Lell is the most lenient out of all of the PCH teachers both in-class and when grading. If you believe he took off too many points on an assessment, there is a chance you can earn some back if you have a reasonable argument. Everything is on OneNote, and he will make you spontaneously explode if you don't have your Lenovo. The classwork and homework itself is rarely graded, if at all. There will be take-home quizzes and graded homeworks periodically (as in I got maybe four throughout the entire year) that you need to turn in digitally on Canvas by whatever time he chooses. Assignments aren't always due at 11:59 PM. Sometimes it's 11 PM or even 8 PM. Regardless, be on top of all the deadlines if you want to succeed in the class. Most of your homework/classwork grades are the reviews he assigns before a test. Mr. Lell is very quirky, and he was my favorite teacher sophomore year, and probably ever. Even if you don't like math for some criminal reason, you'll like him and his personality. Never once have I seen him in a bad mood. If you have any questions outside of class, you can always email him, and as long as it's at a reasonable time, you're almost guaranteed a response. Like, it's scary how quickly he responds to his email to the point you question if the family and life he claims he has outside of school actually exists. You can always come into his room before school starting at like 7:15 if you need any help with anything or if you just want to talk to him. He's really chill, and you will miss him as the school year ends.
