There were a bunch of projects that made up a good chunk of the class. The first half of the semester (Foundations in Computer Science) is mostly lecture with some application sprinkled in. If you ask for help, expect a bit of grief, then the help will come. Also, there are about 20 or so kids, so expect having to wait for help. Content is easy enough in practice than thinking about it theoretically.
You don't necessarily HAVE to pay attention in class, but if you don't, then the powerpoints on his slides mean nothing to you. Notes are not a must. The tests are mostly obscure points from the lecture that weren't discussed in detail. There were rarely any quizzes, as it was mostly tests. When it's a test day, expect your backpack to be either at the front or back of the class away from your seat. Any assessment is announced at least a week before you take it. Participation is based on a favoritism aspect. AKA randomly being chosen to answer during class, and it's usually the same five people every time.
