Besides the one test, all the grades (as of today) are based on completion. That doesn't mean to go and answer randomly, as he does check, but if you put in your best effort you'll get a good grade on the assignment. I also recommend that you use your class resources (Canvas, VHL, Quizlet) to access your vocabulary. If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask him to be invited to one of his Learning Hub meetings--when I went to them, they have all been really short, simple and my question is typically answered within the first 5 to 10 minutes.

Estimate about 1 hour per unit. Ms. Handy releases units to be done 1 a week. It is NOT a completion-based course, but the questions are mostly simple to solve if you watch the videos that go with it. You can always redo an assignment, however your score is an average of all your attempts.

All the papers for this class are digital and on the Canvas page (with the occasional few printed papers), so you should be able to complete the majority of the work at home (except digital tests, those are password-locked). Have a 30-45 minute time block after school where you can study the Quizlet and do any missing work, you will need it and your grades will thank you later. You cannot use any notes (with the exception of a note card, if allowed) on a test, so good luck memorizing stuff! The teacher requires all technology to be put on the ground near us during a paper test and DyKnow-blocks everything besides Canvas for digital tests.

Ms. Rigby typically assigns a book every semester and the book contains all the papers you'll need (besides the occasional few and tests, which she typically tells us). As long as you pay attention and copy everything down as notes, you'll be good in this class.

I'm a student yearbook section editor, so I can't speak for the newspaper or japanese students. The class requires knowledge and understanding of MacOS, Herff Jones eDesign and Adobe InDesign. Training on Herff Jones eDesign is provided first quarter, but there's no training when it comes to MacOS or InDesign (I learned the basics of MacOS and InDesign in my own time in about a week). eDesign updates frequently (too frequently) and features are moved, changed or removed entirely too often, so you need to be able to adapt to change. Design and spelling is critical, so make sure you make sure your pages are perfect before sending them to a section editor (it makes our lives way easier when it comes to copy editing). Expect 2 times of every month you're staying after school, we typically leave at 7pm but some had to stay as late as 10-11. You also need to do a photo assignment, they give you a camera (You'll need to hold the shutter button, not press it once, otherwise it won't take the photo... I found that out the hard way! No camera training is provided. ) and press pass and you'll be taking photos on the sidelines of sports games.
