Switch out of his class immediately. Use any excuse you can and leave his class. This class seems nice at first no homework and very easy until it’s isn’t. You will be warned on monday for the tests you have tuesday-friday 4 test in total with very little materials to study and no time at all to prepare. The tests will only come once in a while. Example you will have 4 weeks of studying for these test the day before each of them then no test for about a month. If you fail one or miss a test you better go to the testing center because he has no patience. You will have no homework but be ready to memorize every little detail. This class is all about memorizing. All your test will be 90% so if you fail one good luck! He has no structure to his class and is very unfiltered. Example you will get a visual example how Romeo died in the book. (not great... ) Be ready to get yelled at even if your doing nothing wrong or are quite and very attentive in his class. He has no patience and will call you names and yell harsh things at you. Don’t try and stand up to anything he says unless you want to be in trouble. This class is horrible and i wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. (funny class thought)

He will not have hard deadlines, so it is easy to get behind on your reading/poetry responses. Don't let yourself do this. Get them done by the date he tells you for the sake of your sanity. Also, don't be afraid to ask for an extension on essays. He doesn't really care if you turn it in a few days late, just let him know and explain your situation. He cares about the quality more than the deadline. Be prepared for really hard vocabulary quizzes, though. They're not a big deal since they're formative and he curves them based on how everyone else did in your class, but they were difficult. The discussions he sets up can be really interesting if you prepare for them the right way. Do not neglect your prep-work sheets for these. They will be your lifeline. In my year, we wrote a total of 8 formal essays (with one or two more we should have done) on a myriad of topics: poetry, movies, books, etc. Tl;dr: READ THE BOOKS AND RESPOND BY THE DEADLINES.

Once you get to know his teaching style, Mr. Rohner is actually a really fun and goofy guy. My friend and I always loved when he said "and I'm your host, Mr. Rohner! " at the start of the week. You might not like him at first due to his workload and expectations, but if you make the time to complete everything by the suggested due date, I promise you will be okay. He also has really good taste in poetry! Pay attention on poetry days- you just might learn or think about something cool!!!
