I would say there is a lot of work in this class. Since it was online for us we didn't get the hands on experience. I feel like it would have been very fun if we did hands on experience. The only advice i would give is to finish your modules on time. The late work policy here is pretty flexible and you can get full points for late work. I have learned lots of useful things that would be handy in the future.

I enjoyed Mr. Kay's class. He was good at explaining the materials and he walked us through the work. Also, we didn't have to write essays or take tests, we took quizzes but he did it with us and then let us take the test to get the best score. When it comes to memorization we need to remember what part does what in a car, etc. Also, when he asked what material we wanted him to go over and he would do it and ask us for the answer and we could follow along and with the quizzes, he would do it with us as well. All in all his class was fun and easy to learn. I learned a lot about cars and how to maintain and do certain things as safely as possible.

Mr. Kay’s main strengths as a teacher correlate to his easygoing approach and periodic expressions that he cares about his students’ learnings. Furthermore, he recognizes the complexity of automotive technology, and so he welcomes incorrect answers for the sake of trial-and-error learning, making it completely fine to be wrong when complex lessons arise. Mr. Kay also does a solid job at motivating his students by reminding them of the intellectual value of each lesson-applying one’s understanding of circuits to other electrical appliances, understanding how to properly sustain tools for any use, accurately diagnosing the symptoms of a failing engine component, etc. Homework and deadlines are spread out fairly well, but once again, it may become frustrating if you struggle with the complexity of various aspects of automotive technology, and if you aren’t intrigued by technological science, then homework may become a chore. As for flaws, there’s an occasional lack of enthusiasm when he teaches, and this may be an issue for students that prefer vibrant teachers for the sake of maintaining intrigue. It’s also important to note that maximizing your learning in this class significantly depends on tactile education methods, and for 2020-21 in particular, I think the students were unable to come close to maximizing their learning due to the absence of hands-on activities, which isn’t attributed to the Mr. Kay’s teaching capacity, but rather the circumstances wrought by the pandemic. I have faith that future school years will be unencumbered by a pandemic, and thus I highly recommend this class if you’re intrigued by the systems and components that comprise a functioning automobile, or if you’re interested in technological science in general.
