Mr. Garrett is both a forensics coach and the teacher for the dramatic interpretation class. However, majority of classwork consists of discussions about ethnic studies. I believe that Mr. Garrett is both a great teacher and a great coach though. In class time is spent discussing social justice issues alongside our homework being centered around those discussions. Outside of class, Mr. Garrett serves as the head debate coach. However, since I don't participate in debate, I haven't had much experience with him in debate. Overall, I think Mr. Garrett's class was very enjoyable..

Some useful advice that I would give to a student is to memorize the vocab lists. Its extremely important especially on the exams that you know every word to heart. Along with this, memorizing vocab is not enough to get your bests scores. Its important to also memorize the structure and different tenses/ ways that you can say certain words in spanish. Often times you arent tested on just the vocab, but how to conjugate and use certain words inside of a sentence. If you do both of these things, memorize vocab and practice conjugations, you will do extremely well in the class.

There a couple of ways to succeed in this class, but in terms of your grade, basically do your homework on time, since Mr. Garrett will sometimes not take or accept late assignments, which can really hurt your grade. Additionally, going to the minimum amount of competitions is also a big part in your grade, so you should keep in mind that by taking this class, you are basically signing up to perform a lot. In class performances also carry weight on your grade, but if you practice and memorize your pieces, these performances get easier and easier as time goes on. Going back to homework, in the beginning of the year, there aren't that many homework assignments, but during the end of the 2nd semester, expect more homework than before which can easily make or break your overall grade. So just perform when expected, go to tournaments, and do your homework, and forensics will be a fun experience.
