The material in the class is relatively easy to comprehend. The material is all memorization. There isn’t much work assigned, it is mainly just quizzes and tests. Mr. Boyd heavily uses slides that aren’t posted anywhere after he is done using them, so it is very important to actually take notes during the class period. He isn’t super strict with deadlines as he opened assignments for kids who missed it or didn’t like their scores throughout the year. Overall, the class was enjoyable and not too difficult.

Psychology 1 with Mr Boyd was an excellent experience. Although we were virtual throughout the entirety of this year, it was still a fun and engaging class. Mr Boyd allowed students to include themselves into the assignments by asking questions about personal experiences with certain topics (completely optional, though). The first 20 to 30 minutes of class time was spent discussing current/historical events that occurred that particular day or week, I found this to be a very interesting and new way to keep students invested within the class. It allowed students to look forward to something fun during class. The actual psychology was taught through slideshows, videos, and textbook readings. Mr Boyd used the textbook as a guideline on his teaching but encouraged students to read the chapters in order to get a better understanding of the topic and to become familiar with the key terms. Slideshows were mainly prevalent within the class and were actually very informative. However, I do wish we had access to said slideshows as it would have helped to be able to go back and re-examine the lesson. Overall, I enjoyed Mr Boyd’s Psychology class and would highly recommend taking this class if you’re interested in pursuing a career in psych or even just exploring your options.

From my personal experience, I believe studying and memorization is one of the biggest key factors. Always take notes on his lectures no matter what, you never know what you will miss. Also, read the textbook! He always says to read the book because all the information that you need that will be on the tests or quizzes is in there. Other than that, I feel like study groups really helped out when in a class like this because you can compare answers that you got with each other and correct one another. In the end, tests and quizzes were more of my priority due to the small amount of homework given.

The class is fine it is U. S. history so there isn't much there. Overall the class as a whole is interesting because of the subjects being learned. For example WorldWar 2, Coldwar, Vietnam war, The Great Depression, etc.

After having Mr. Boyd as my US History teacher for junior year, I have learned that he is extremely passionate about social justice issues and will often times spend more than half of the class period discussing these topics. His passion can come off a little irate, but this is typically not directed at the class. In terms of curriculum, information is given to students through a series of slideshows and some reading of the textbook. Because of this, Mr. Boyd's class is a little monotonous, especially after more than an hour spent with him on zoom. Although his class definitely was not my favorite or the most interesting, I do appreciate the slack he cut his students during the pandemic and the amount of effort he put in to help his students pass his class since he understood how many were having a difficult time during the pandemic.
