Stop thinking if you are ever going to use what you learn in class. Go in with a positive attitude. If you are going to college after high school, you will for sure do way better if you put in the effort to learn calculus now. If you do well on the AP tests, you can even skip a few math courses and take more electives or something. Even if you are not going to college after high school, it is still worth learning calculus. Learning about calculus is more than just calculus. It is about learning how to think at an abstract level, learning and practicing how to solve problems, learning how to use logic to arrive at complex conclusions, and learning about previous mathematicians' life works. Previous mathematicians poured their life and soul into building the foundations of math that we take for granted today. They would have done anything to know what you are about to learn. That's a pretty lengthy paragraph just to convince you to be motivated about calculus. If you want to actually do well in class, DO THE HOMEWORK. If you have questions, ask about it in class or after schooland Mr. Reinstein will almost always help you.

Mr. Reinstein is honestly a massive legend. He's literally there for you because he stays pretty late after school. He deserves a lot of respect, and he also returns the respect you give him. Even beyond math, he cares about every student personally and he's there if you are going through rough times. He's an enthusiastic, caring, and pretty joyful human being, not to mention he's also a superb violinist.
