Don't let others intimidate you about Mr. Felix, although he has a bad reputation from what I saw, he's a really good teacher if you pay attention. I think that what people mostly dislike about him is his work as it is a handful, but if you manage your time wisely, you should be alright.

Learn the concepts and ask her to do a homework problem on the board because she sometimes does that.
