The class itself is not hard; if you study the book, read the worksheets provided, and (most importantly) review the labs that you do in the unit, you will do fine.

Ms. Kuei's class is a lot easier than the horror stories I have heard. She gives a huge amount of extra credit and it is possible to have a 110% in her class. If you are one of the top 15 students you don't have to take the final. The quizzes are harder than the tests. The quizzes are short answer questions and the tests are basically homework problems. Make sure you do your work diligently and make sure to prepare for the labs. She is hard to understand some times but her jokes are sometimes funny. I liked her class. Good luck!

As for the teacher, I would recommend not relying on her. Firstly, she openly admits to using AI and not knowing any of what she is teaching, rather having a music degree and getting to her position by "thoroughly reading the book". She does have a working knowledge of chemistry, but for the Earth science unit, she plugs the textbook into AI and has it generate questions for her (she has told us this many, many times). She also refuses to admit AI is wrong when it is specifically in HER hands, even though it is quite clear that she does not fully understand the material without assistance from AI. The AI itself is also bad, leaving out key wording that can lead you to get a question wrong. Even when you try to discuss this logic with her, she does not budge, instead insisting you are "bashing" her when you point out flaws in her reasoning. Also, some of previous reviews mention lots of extra credit; that is false; while there is extra credit, it is very minimal (around 10 points in total if you qualify for top 10% nationally in a competition she has you do; this is great, 1/3 of a test, but not many people get it). I am not exaggerating when I say you would have to be a reincarnation of Einstein to be able to get over 100% in her class. If you are aiming for a B, that's fine, it can be done pretty easily, but going above and beyond for an A will take a lot of work and help understanding the material, which you will NOT get from this teacher. In her wise words, "I am not a teacher, but a facilitator"; in other words: "This class is entirely self-study, since I do not understand most of the material, but I will still test you on it".

Ms. Kuei is a dedicated and resourceful teacher. Try not to email her too much and instead ask her questions in person. Her class isn't actually that hard.
