Class of 2024

Focuses a lot on what impact you want to make on society, and goes into eye-opening philosophical stuff. Easy class, but assignments will pile. Lots of reading logs, and we occasionally have essays. Research about Creed Presentations.

Class of 2021

Jul 03, 2019

This class is not focused on the nitty-gritty of things like grammar and vocabulary. Grammar and vocab are, of course, part of this class, but the main focus of this class is on the big concepts of learning. This class is focused on putting the u back in education. He encourages students to do a lot of deeper thinking and analysis and to express their opinions through their work. He holds a lot of class discussions about the books and poetry we read for class. Although your writing skills may improve to a certain degree over the course of the year, you may have to wait until APEng in 11th grade to really improve your writing skills. There are quite a few writing assignments that focus on reflecting on the books, poetry, and articles (for quick writes) assigned in this class, and there are notes that have to be taken for all of the aforementioned items. Possibly the most important thing you can gain from this class, though, is how to express who you are as an individual through the work you do in English class an beyond. Mr. Creger helps you build a more personal bond with the work you do and does his best to make sure that you have the mental health and strength you need to succeed in high school. Just keep and open mind and participate in class discussions; do not worry about the grade too much. (P. S. For the second semester, actually read the books assigned to you, as the reading quizzes take direct quotes from the books and expect you to name the speaker, who is spoken to, the situation/context surrounding the quote, and the significance of each quote. )
