I took AP Euro last year. I know a lot of people may dislike his class, but honestly even taking it online through hybrid, his class was my absolute favorite so far. His lectures were far more interesting than anything you'd find on an AP book. He has so many artifacts from WWII and WWII along with tons of video clips and stories about his own family background with the war. His class is fast-paced and incredibly straightforward. The only problems I can come up with are with tech (but you usually wouldn't need tech with the AP exam anyway). He doesn't assign a lot of homework, but things like the written homework used to take me at least 2 hours every day to formulate. Overall, don't take his class if you're just looking for the AP credit and doing tons of practice exams and random AP strategies to get a good score. Only take this class if you have a genuine interest in history and want to take in everything he says in the lectures (which tend to be more story-times). I barely studied the AP exam, but still passed with a 5, thanks to his storytimes everyday :))

Mrs. Barro is extremely friendly, fun, enthusiastic, passionate, enthusiastic, and student-orientated (I really mean it! You can tell immediately when conversing with her). This year (2021-22), she has emphasized communication between her and students, and has openly expressed her desire to be flexible and work with students about how the class should work (meaning, if you have any concerns, Mrs. Barro will be more than welcome and happy to hear them! Just be respectful, of course). I can tell she loves teaching, and it really shows during her class lectures when she's going up and about with hand gestures and a little oomph; like the energy she emits can just brighten anyone's day up or at least bring a smile to your face! (I genuinely mean this! ). I think there are 2 main reasons why someone would love a class they're taking: 1. They have a huge fascination in the subject. And 2. The teacher is awesome! And in my opinion, Mrs. Barro ABSOLUTELY exemplifies and encapsulates that amazing connection between teachers and students needed to inspire the students to be active learners and expand their ever-growing horizons! My only complaint is that Mrs. Barro used to have graded pop quizzes in class, where the students wouldn't know in advance which day they would have a quiz on the chapter they're learning (meaning, the quiz could be on any day of the week). The intent of this was to push the students to consistently study and be prepared, but I have to respectfully disagree with Mrs. Barro on this one. Pop quizzes are just added stress and anxiety and I feel that they actually inhibit a students' ability to learn/study since that added stress can do wonders on the mind. Allowing students to know ahead of time when the quiz will be (as is normal with most teachers) allows ample time for the students to study, gain/improve confidence in the concepts they're learning, and overall have a smooth, streamlined, and enjoyable learning experience. Plus, quizzes should be treated as progress report checks to allow students to know where they're at in the learning process and know which concepts they need to study more. And so I actually do support the idea of pop quizzes, but not that they should be graded. Graded quizzes should be announced ahead of time, while non-graded auizzes are ok with being announced suddenly. I feel that having the pop quizzes given out as a grade doesn't do students justice since it again, adds unnecessary stress, but also can be demotivating to students wanting to actively learn. Students should feel at ease, calm, and comfortable when taking pop quizzes since it's a progress report check on their understanding of the concepts. But this is just my opinion on the matter and of course, it's up to Mrs. Barro to teach the way she thinks is best for our learning experience, b/c after all, I think students should remember that teachers want to help them and actually care, believe it or not, about our academic success not just in school, but in life! - Connor Tran (2021-2022, I wrote the 1st review on Oct 29, 2021. Mr. Birinyi is one of the best teachers of all time so he teaches Health really nicely. The class is easy I got an A very easily and he offers a lot of extra credit say your really close or you do something worthy of bucks. I've taken really hard classes and Health is the lowest in terms of how hard it is. So easy and had no issues with emailing him about grade incorrections and assignment questions.

An elementary, standard Spanish class. Does not require too much application or immersion of the language. Review vocab, grammar, and tenses for the tests. Participation is also an important part of the class, but he is fair on the points and calls on anyone who is willing to share. He can get really serious in class, but is an overall good guy that cares a lot for student's progress. He prepares you well for the subsequent language course and is a pretty good teacher.

Hollingsworth's English Honors 2 made me feel confident in language arts. After having a dismal experience in English Honors 1, Ms. Hollingsworth class was just what I needed. She made English fun and interesting rather than challenging. She usually tests you with vocabulary terms, reading checks, and essays. Reading checks are just her reading from a passage and asking you to explain, it is also not worth too many points so it is not as stressful as other teacher's reading checks. From my experience, she is a fast yet lenient grader. Simply finish your work and there's no way you can fail the class let alone get anything below an A. This class was really the boost for me to take AP Language and Comp. There is participation, but it does not feel forced at all. Classroom environment is also laidback which helps with participating. She does do projects, but they are extremely fun and straightforward. One of the best teachers and classes at the school, highly recommend.

From the first lesson, make sure you do not rely solely on his unsubstantial and inadequate teaching. Reinforce it with online help, the textbook, or study guides. Do not slack off on doing this. Do it from the first to the last chapter.

Read the textbook which he reminds you to do all the time, so you can follow along in the class easier. Focus more on what he's trying to teach and understand it, rather than robotically write down notes which he also reminds you to do... you have been warned. This will prove helpful throughout the class, because he does "popcorn" on people to answer questions. Saying "I don't know" is not an acceptable answer. Make sure to speak loudly, clearly, and with confidence when answering questions for the class. Failing to follow instructions can lead to a variety of unpleasant attention. Lab days can be extremely tense, but just make sure you know what you have an idea of what you're doing ahead of time, imagining it by reading the instructions.

Mr. Schultz is a great teacher who focuses on growing as a person and learning how to love others more. 90% of the class is writing journals- each journal is usually 2 paragraphs, sometimes 3. He reminds you that each paragraph should be about 6-8 sentences each. About 5% of the class is reflecting on yourself and comparing your life to whatever book the class is reading. The last 5% of the class is writing short stories. Overall, the class will be easy if you like to write (a lot of the class is free response).

She is a relatively easy class and is an understanding teacher. She is less lecture based and more "read the passage and answer the questions. " So you will basically have no notes. At the end of the unit, all the work done becomes a packet to be turned in. She often says to just study the packet for the tests, but completely disregard that. The book is your absolute best friend. For tests, always read the book; don't even look at your notes from the packet. In fact, the tests are ripped straight from the book. When you get into the Russian and French Revolution and the World Wars, Extremely Simplified's videos are helpful for the memorizing and fun. Work assigned is usually all in class and becomes homework if you do not finish. It's also a nice place to eat lunch on rainy days if she still does that.

I had Mrs. Williams for both Accel Bio and AP Bio, and is a true inspiration to my journey in biology! She teaches her class with tons of enthusiasm and radiates positive energy. We also practice mindfulness and is not afraid to ease up some work if she feels it adds unnecessary stress. You do lots of interesting labs and written analysis on the data and results. This class is amazing in preparing for upper level biology classes. The assignments are super helpful and has a lot of variety of general notes, case studies, and FRQs, which is all clearly recorded in a journal. The main caveat with her are the that tests are what make or break your grades. She takes long and is tough on grading it. Try to accumulate the most points in your journals as she grades them leniently upon completion and quality. Study hard along with reading the textbook and notebooks because the tests are on the application of your knowledge rather than rote memorization. For instance, multiple choice has options that all sound related to what you learn and it is on you to pick the best answer of the given scientific process. At the end is an FRQ worth the most points that is graded in multiple parts and is good practice for the AP exams. Other times, quizzes will give you a drawn out diagram and you have to map out the biological pathway and mechanism. Work hard cause she ups the standards in AP Bio, and is just really kind and wants to help you out! All in all, a hidden gem. I would recommend her class if you want to learn from and like a scientist, but she is less focused on preparing you for the AP exam.
