I took AP Calculus AB with Mrs. Eilers. I struggled a lot with this course. Mrs. Eilers would try to squeeze large lessons in one class period, which made it very difficult for me to learn anything. Additionally, she would just print out notes, which I found to be not as useful (although they did have a lot of good information on them), since I didn't write them myself. I would ask Mrs. Eilers for help frequently during study hall, which allowed me to grasp some of the concepts better (I recommend that you do it too). Additionally, I would go over my exams with Mrs. Eilers to see what I did wrong and how to correctly solve the problems (another thing I recommend you to do). I highly recommend self studying for this class; I had a few friends who did so and received high A's in AP Calc AB. By self studying and asking Mrs. Eilers for help, you should be able to get at least a high B in this class.

I took two classes with Mr. Evans: English 1 Honors and AP Lit. Initially, I mostly got C's on all of my essays, but then, I began to ask Mr. Evans to proofread my essays, which drastically improved my essay scores (I mostly got A's after that). Definitely ask him for feedback on your essays if you would like to get an A or B in his class. Also, always study for every test; Mr. Evans tells you what to study, so as long as you study what he asks you to study, you should do decently on the exams. Additionally, go out of your way to learn the sentence patterns (if you don't know what sentence patterns are now, you'll know after taking one of Mr. Evan's classes), since they will appear on tests and improve your writing. Also, please read the books; although I know many people who somehow did well in the class by only reading Sparknotes, it's much better to actually read and analyze the novels instead of reading someone else's summary and analysis. For incoming AP Lit students, just know that in class, you will not be taught how to write two of the essay types you need for the AP exam (we only covered FRQ #3). If you would like to take the AP exam (I didn't because I felt very unprepared), practice writing the other two types of essays in your free time. Also, there is a participation grade in Mr. Evan's AP Lit class (I don't know if he added it into his English 1H class), so participate! If not, your grade will most likely suffer.

Take her class if you enjoy playing music... umm it's not like you have a choice of teacher LOL.

From someone who earned a 5 in WHAP: Early on, form a study group of 2-5 people. Do the weekly reeding and notes together, stopping every "header" to discuss and write down key points. If you like audiobooks, try to access the ebook (you may have to connect with the other WHAP teacher's copy) as it has a speech tool. If writing and reading notes isn't how you learn, that's ok. Don't overdo it. Communicate with the teacher and your peers to see what amount is reasonable to submit, then use the rest of your time on another method. Find resources online. The course is universal enough for them to line up. Heimler and Crash Course are great. For the essays, don't stress too much about exact dates and such. As long as you can confidently describe the event so it can be recognized, you will be fine. Leading up to the AP test, I wouldn't bother with the practice test hosted by the school. Instead, I recommend finding the old real tests on the CollegeBoard website. Discuss and debate the answers with your study group. Prioritize takeaway ideas over technicalities when it comes to the MCQs. Finally, it's test day. Go to bed early. Eat a filling breakfast and get to the testing location on time. Don't let anyone steal your food. Get settled with all of your writing utensils. You've got this. The tests from the class were honestly harder than the AP test. Enjoy the parties in the final weeks and good luck with your results.

I took Government/Economics with Mr. Mock. The class utilizes the 4 point grading scale, which I didn't really like too much since it changed the way my test scores looked on Schoolloop (For example, if I got an A- on a test, it would be an 80% on the 4 point scale). First semester (government) was somewhat challenging, but as long as you put in the work and study for each test, you should at least get a B in the class. Economics was much more difficult for me, since I had no prior economics knowledge, but by studying and completing every assignment, you should also be able to achieve at least a B in the class. Also, to do well in the class, put a lot of effort into your final projects (the letter to a government official and Sharktank); these have a big impact on your grade. Both Gov/Econ with Mr. Mock are difficult to get A's in (I barely got an A both semesters), but if you are willing to pay attention in class and put in the work (doing every single assignment, studying, and retaking failed tests), you should be able to do well in the class.

I took Spanish for Spanish Speakers 2 with Mr. Tavernakis. In that class, we wrote one essay each month, where we had to answer a prompt based on a movie, book or short story that we read in class that month. As long as you write about three, detailed pages for each essay with somewhat advanced spanish vocabulary, you should be able to get B's or A's on your essays. Don't write one page essays; everyone who did that in my class got bad grades on their essays, so be descriptive and write more. Also, utilize quotes to prove points in your essays; they will make your arguments stronger! When I took the class, we had to write an in class essay for the final, so be aware that you might have to write your essays in a short period of time. If it isn't an in class essay, know that you will usually get around 1-3 class periods to write the essay, depending on how well your class behaves. I recommend actually finishing your essays at home; then, when you return to class, all you have to do is simply proofread and turn in the essay. Also, for any presentations Mr. Tavernakis assigns, it's ok to use flashcards as long as your presentation has a lot of good analysis and information (I did that and I got an A- on my presentation).
