Like many other classes, this requires rigorous commitment and time management. However, I do think that the class as a whole grows closer so don't be afraid to speak up and share your opinions! There is no right and wrong in this class and that will make you succeed. Don't fall into the background and be an ACTIVE participator.
Don't procrastinate as it will add up and your workload will not be easy.
Even though it might feel tempting to cheat or slack off on the virtual notebook assignments, make sure you do them and think your answers through. Make sure to take extra credit opportunities just in case you get a low score on a test. Take time to plan or write out essays before the test day.
You just need to remember the big ideas from each time period. Then you are good on every tests.
this is from my experience as a 10th grade PODER student: - most work is done in class - make sure to pace yourself accordingly. homework was rarely a concern for us PODER students, which was one of the best parts of her class. - ms. lapointe often gives students free time on "wellness" days to relax, catch up on assignments for other classes, study, etc. take advantage of this time - use it wisely! - there is an emphasis on socialization through peer discussions and other activities. be prepared to share your ideas and work with others! - be open about your needs and communicate with honesty! if you need help, do not hesitate to ask for it.
