One of the most important parts of this class is learning to think critically about texts, then translate that into your writing. The feedback from assignments and essays is incredibly helpful. As an AP course, there is a lot of essay writing (including in class essays). This seems annoying at the time, but it sets you up so well to go into AP English 30 and beyond with good writing skills.
Mr. Maxwell knows his material and it shows in his class. He wants his students to succeed and know the material as well as possible. There are significant amounts of homework in this class, but it does help you learn the material thoroughly. His Calc 30 and AP Calculus 30 courses are a lot of work but are very worth it as they set you up well for university.
Mrs. Munson's AP English 30 course sets you up well for the AP exam, especially the essay writing portion. If she offers the option to get extra practice writing the exam before the actual exam-do it! This helped me feel so prepared for the exam, work on making sure I could do it in time, and just gave me the practice that I needed to learn how to write the AP exam well. The informatin is posted on classroom at least the day before and there is a wide range of activities-class discussions, reading Shakespeare as a group, jamboards, et cetera that make this class thoroughly engaging. I found that, even though this is one of the hardest courses I took in high school, it was quite enjoyable and what was expected of students was completely reasonable. It was a very fun course.
