I took his "The Nightmare Vision" class, which is about the environment mostly, not about nightmares. He is a hard grader on the essays, but asking him questions will help you get a better grade. The quizzes are easy as long as you read the pages he assigns.
I've had him for The Nightmare Vision which isn't at all like it sounds. It was an English class, so we had readings each week and occasional quizzes. The thing is that you never know when the quizz is but if you read the reading, you'll know the answers right away (ex: what's the name of the main character). He's not an easy grader but if you follow up with him about your essay, your grades will improve. From what I remember there's just the quizzes, 2 essays and like a debate (which is really not that bad because it's in teams and you only have to talk for like max 2 mins, not even).
I really liked this class. I had him for my 102 class called something like "Canadian Novels". In this class, we read books that were based off of Canadian authors. Overall, he was a nice and sweet teacher. He was always open to discussion and questions about our essays, and the chapter we read. He is roughly a fair grader when it comes to essays, and he does prepare you well in advance, on how you should write your essays and what your essay structure should be like. He also goes over grammatical excercises which also help us, with writing our essays. The only thing I did not like about this class, was that he gave random quizzes on the chapters we read, but apparently, most english teachers at Vaneir are like that. If you like reading books, I would recommend this class.
