The Utopia/Dystopia class is honestly pretty boring but really easy to do well in if you manage your time (or even if you don’t). Weekly one-page reading responses are assigned, but they’re all due the week of the test, so you can easily knock them all out the night before. The workload seems heavy at first glance, but in reality, everything is straightforward and manageable. The tests are incredibly predictable. As long as you know the vocabulary (which is clearly listed for you), you’ll be fine. They include multiple-choice, short answer, and an essay question. For the short and long answers, you don’t need deep knowledge of the material—just write something logical with a bit of reference to the readings, and you’ll get a good mark. For instance, we discussed 1984 by George Orwell, which you’re technically expected to read. I didn’t bother; I watched a few summary videos and still scored 100% on the test. The final project is a breeze. You can pick any topic you’re interested in, and as long as you follow the instructions, you’re basically guaranteed over 80%. Overall, while the workload can feel like a lot (especially if you procrastinate), everything is so straightforward that it’s hard to do poorly. If you’re looking for an easy grade and don’t mind some dull material, this class is for you.

I took her for Utopia/Dystopia and the class was super interesting and she is really nice. However, she gives a short essay due every week so it can pile up pretty quickly but she takes the best 5 out of 8 essays. She isnt a hard grader if you come to class and take notes you should be fine.

Take her. I had her for 'Utopia and Dystopia' and it was very helpful to book multiple office hours to let her go through my assignments before submitting. She was honestly the best teacher I had in the semester.

Just pay attention in class. The more you pay attention in class, the teachers will be nice to all of the students.

Dr. Rose is an incredibly understanding and supportive teacher who genuinely cares about her students and their mental well-being. She’s always available for help and encourages students to reach out whenever they need guidance. One of the best things about her class is that she’s more than willing to review your assignments before the deadline to help you maximize your grade. Her feedback is detailed and constructive, giving you a clear sense of what’s working and exactly what needs to be improved.
