The tests are created by the students for the students. The class is dynamic and fun, never a dull moment

Go to class, pay attention to what he says since it can be very helpful on the assignments.

i took this teacher for fundamentals of academic work in the social science and really enjoyed it. the teacher is very energetic which makes the class more interesting. he also always answers questions if theres something you dont understand. In majority of the classes you do group work. overall this class wasn't very serious, it was one of those classes that feel like a "break" from the rest of your course load. just make sure you get the assignments done on time, it's not difficult to get a good grade in this class.

I took him for his ethnicity class (IL) and while hes a nice teacher i found the class hard. Hes a hard grader and gives alot of readings and little assignments worth 1-2%. It doesnt seem like alot but all the assignments accumulate so make sure to work hard on them. If you can take another teacher you should. Hes nice but other teachers made IL so much easier for their class.

very fun and easy-going teacher, had fundamentals of academic work in the social sciences with him and despite the boring subject he made it very entertaining. mostly group projects, bit of a harsh grader but if you follow instructions and study you'll do good. almost every class has an assignment due at the end of class that counts for 2% to 5% so make sure u show up. he's very lenient tho and u can always submit late. one test and a couple orals. all in all a great person :)

Joel a rare gem, he listens to students and is open to changes in his classroom is someone is unhappy. He makes us write many essays but you can see he loves his job very much and loves reading what we have to say. If you have the opportunity to have this teacher don’t miss it.

I took his class "Ethnicity" and thoroughly enjoyed it. He is a hard grader and you will have a lot of work to do during the semester. He is also very strict on deadlines and does not accept tardiness. However, he's very passionate and will motivate you to get things done. He is very knowledgeable and is amazing to answer questions and discuss many sociological and psychological theories. Overall, enjoyed the experience a lot, but it's good that I was not taking more than 5 classes since it was very demanding.

I unironically love this man. Not only is he just absolutely brilliant and so talented at explaining these super complicated social phenomenons to a bunch of 19 year old, he actually cares about whether you do well and will do everything he can to make sure you do. If you don’t put in the effort, you’ll have a hard time no doubt. But if you do, both the 300 and 400 level courses were honestly amazing
