Not only is not all of the test material reviewed in class, but you must also always answer exam and assignment questions based exactly on what the teacher explained in class and not based on the readings or what you understood from them, even if he says to do so. Also, never ever miss a single class, or you will struggle a lot to get notes.

Definitely fully read and annotate your texts so you have a better chance at doing well for the reading responses

I took psychoanalysis with him, and honestly I thought this would be a super hard class because of other reviews. Relax, it is really not that bad. It is true that he posts no material online and no electronics are allowed, but you recopy what he writes and that is it. That also means that you can't miss classes! However, the class was pretty easy and as long as you write something that is somewhat true on the midterms you will get a good grade. He posts a list of key concepts, study those and you will be fine (they're literally what the midterm tests are on). We have 2 midterms and 2 essays. For the essays, you are allowed the texts that they are about, but warning: they are usualy 5-7 pages essays. Do not worry, it is actually pretty easy to go over that because there is a lot to talk about. There is a lot of readings to do but you're not tested specifically on them. The group work is kinda awkward but it is okay (you need to find new teamates each time). The teacher is super sweet and I loved hearing him talk and give examples, even though it was difficult since I always had to recopy his notes instead of listening.

He's a really great teacher. I took him for Psychoanalysis and the Limits of Knowledge. He knows what he's talking about and is incredibly knowledgeable about the topic he's teaching. He doesn't allow technology at all in class but it's okay because he let's us copy his slides down on paper. A lot of the assignments were done in groups of 2-3 and it consisted of 3-4 short answer questions that would only take up about 30 minutes of the class. He was a pretty easy grader if you answered the questions somewhat correctly but for the essays, you had to be careful about your wording, because obviously, I took a knowledge course. Therefore, I had to be knowledgeable about the topic. Anyways, he's really passionate about what he teaches and sometimes can bring up some pretty interesting discussions. His class helps us realize various aspects of our mind that we may not have understood otherwise. I think it was a pretty cool course. I recommend it if you are interested in learning about society and the individual.
