It is very easy to succeed in this class if you do the graded work.
Class of 2025
The class is chill. You don't need to go to all the lectures, especially if you're done your work. Usually the assignments aren't dependent on the lecture, you'll be provided with a document online or have to use a reading given to you. The assignments tell you exactly what he expects from you and where to look to find the answers. His assignments are really straight forward so you won't have to spend days to finish them. But I would suggest doing them as soon as you get them because then you can finish the class earlier in the semester and not have to cram all the assignments for the end. He did assigned readings when I had him, where you had to choose a reading then answer assignment questions, I suggest choosing the earlier readings, otherwise you'll have 2-3 assignments due for around the same time.
Class of 2025
I took him twice and got a 95 and 100 easily. He doesn't do tests but gives a lot of long assignments. If you're up for putting in the work, you'll do fine. The questions literally tell you exactly how to answer the question. He's super nice and friendly once you get to know him. He loves jazz.
Class of 2026
I took the class on Race, it is mostly writing essays and short awnser but there is no work done in class, he gives weeks to do the work and reminds the class when something is due. The essays are easy if you read the instructions (he tells you almost exaclty what is demanded). Excellent class and teacher. Fair grades :)
Class of 2021
Meh class. Didn't always seem all that captivated or interested in the materials that were being taught. Overall the class was pretty good, didn't have too much work to do, there would be nothing, and then a larger project. Get the work done as soon as you have the chance to just get it out of the way.

He's an okay teacher. He has a hard time sticking to the point and gets side-tracked extremely easily and often which makes it hard for us as students to stay focused which makes things harder in general since, as others have pointed out, this is more of a auditory kind of class. His assignments are many and they are long.

Keep up with the readings! Make sure you pay attention and take notes in class, this is especially important in order to do well in his class. His does not provide written notes. He grades the assignments quite easily. Tests are harder. Take him if you prefer auditory learning.
