I had her for intro to psychology, and you absolutely need the textbook in order to get a passing/good grade. She presents notes in class, but doesn't post them on Lea. You need to take good notes and study them intensively. She WILL try to trick you in the multiple choice questions. As for the short answer parts, they're always about something she presents in class and not about something from the book exclusively. I recommend you study at least a week in advance, because the exams are difficult. Pure memorization that you will forget the week after. LISTEN to her when she speaks about plagiarism because if you do a mistake on the LIA, you will get a note in your file.

If you are in the Basic of psychology disorders course, BE REALLY AWARE: You can either pass or fail, her class is very challenging if you do not read ALL of your notes, the main textbook to purchase and side textbook provided by Ms. Sonnenschein. I had to learn it the hard way on my first two-ish tests and the average for every exams in her class was in the 60s. While she is very energetic and a bit eccentric, I do not recommend taking this class if you were to pick this course in the last semester as you will stress and cry on it and spend time studying it. Her quizzes are mainly multiple choices following by 2 listing questions and a short writing response question. She is also strict on rules to follow for the LIA.

After class, the students should review the lecture to remember the lesson as much as possible. The course FAWWS = Fundamentals of Academic Work was not just challenging, but also truly fascinating. The topics, though difficult, were intriguing and kept us engaged. The material had a lot of detail to memorize for the tests, and there were also readings. In each class, we had to do the LIA reflection, the final portfolio, and the poster presentation at the end of the semester. We had to do a class activity in pairs. Bonnie was a fantastic teacher and a very detailed person, although she was a complex marker. Her test questions were all tricky.

as much as i love bonnie and how funny she is, the class average was in the 60s for every single assessment we had. if you want to excel in her class, show up to every single class, write down all the notes (and understand them because she’s not too clear in her notes either), read all the textbook readings she asks you to read before the lecture so that you know what’s being discussed, always have your course pack with you because a lot of the activities inside are also test questions, and then study as soon as she’s done teaching material, but also try to get a head start! also, participate. words cannot describe how happy she gets when people participate! it’s also the only way information from her lectures can stick in ur head. and be prepared because she’ll ask questions on what she just taught you in the last 20 minutes.
