There are in-class assignments every couple of weeks and 2 tests during the whole semester. There's one LIA to write at home but it wasn't something too complex. It's important that you really understand the topics she speaks about as the majority of the exams are essay questions; however, she's pretty generous with the grading as long as you understand what you're talking about. She grades more harshly for the in class assignments but she's always there to guide us.

LOVE HER!!!! I had her for Intro to Sociology Her quizzes are so easy because it’s only true or false and it’s open book!!! However... you need to write overall around 5 journals about the notions of this course and a final essay. I will strongly suggest you to write very well and respect the requirements. Her class is so so interesting and easy. I will definitely recommend her! You can easily pass if you’re good at expressing point of views and explaining. Journals are mostly like explaining the notions of sociology with your experiences, which is easy right? As long as you respect her requirements. If not, then you will get a bad grade. Just listen to what she says in class because it’s really really helpful. You don’t need to take notes but I will suggest you to do so (taking notes of what she’s saying and not from her powerpoints) because it is beneficial for your essays. the essays count more than the quizzes so keep that in mind! Good luck if you have her! Also, the « open book » are articles. So yes, quizzes on articles!!

Overall, a great teacher and always has a smile on her face. An interactive class as she's always looking to discuss topics for real-life examples. I appreciated the sociology of the family class.

Th teacher was super helpful and very clear in class. Her notes were a little chaotic, with up to 5 different fonts and things with different indents and italics, bold, underlined... which makes it somewhat difficult to follow, but overall the class was very well executed.
