Pretty easy to do good if you actually read and listen. Otherwise a thing that may be good to consider is that he’ll never tell you “your answer is wrong” orally, but his opinion on that same answer will reflect in the way he grades. It’s not harsh or whatever, you might just be a little disappointed at first, but he does that to everyone, he’s not biased. So basically try to aim for what he wants to hear.
Class of 2026
Highly recommend making some friends in the class early on to be able to bounce ideas off of each other. If not then you should be fine if you relate everything to how the state of the world is deteriorating.
Class of 2020
Don't get scared by the lectures, sometimes he rambles on and will diverge from the focus. Pay attention to the passages he brings to light in class from the short stories. WHen answering the short questions/short essays, he will accept anything as long as you explain it - i've never heard him say "that's wrong". The final essay for his class "the good, the bad the weird" only focuses on 3 stories out of all the stories (around 10 in total) that we've read, so don't worry if one of the stories is a bit unclear. Best teacher i've gotten in english hands down!

Really nice and friendly guy, try and get on his good side early on and he will be more lenient about you going on electronics in class and other rules he has. He really likes pointing out the ambiguity in the texts you will read which works out because you can be very ambiguous in your writings and hell accept it. You don't necessarily need to read all the material if you are good at making things up and saying a whole lot of nothing. Very generous with extensions and lates if you have even a somewhat valid reason. He is a bit intense but would recommend.

He is a very good english teacher, gives you a lot of liberty to write whatever you want. The in-class discussions help you for the weekly assignments, but you can feel free to bring in your own perspective. He is an easy grader as long as you're answering the question and giving examples to support your thoughts. Highly recommend!
