Class of 2021
You can succeed in this class but it will take a lot more effort than it's worth. In order to do well on class tests/quizzes you must not only read the very extensive and difficult readings but understand them as well. He barely goes over what was written in the readings in his lectures, just discusses some of the ideas in them but doesn't really get at the main point of the reading. As someone with dyslexia, this did not bode well for me. He really teaches for one kind of student and that student must be one who can memorize 2 hours of a reading and regurgitate facts. It's possible to adapt but it's difficult. He ruins what could be an informative and interesting class with his strange teaching style. I still did alright, but the class average was alarmingly low.
Class of 2020
Unclear instructions. VERY specific expectations and very little lecture material. Spends 15-25 minutes on zooms just to summarize the readings, then leaves. Will be taught primarily from the textbook. Be prepared to be called on in class, as well as ridiculed during meetings about your essays. If you can avoid this class I would recommend dropping it.

He's a likeable guy but a bit mean when he criticizes your work. If you cry easily you may not want to take this class. Teaching style just didn't work for me.
