- Go to extra help to get more feedback on your work after receiving a grade - Don't take him too seriously - he's a great critic - Be creative! He really lets you find a style when learning to write essays, he pushes you to become better in my opinion

I had Mr. Erickson for both pop music and philosophy/gender studies. I LOVE THE CLASS DISCUSSIONS WE HAD! His class material was very enjoyable and informative. I would definitely recommend this class to everyone. The only thing that I was stressed about during his class was my assignments. He takes his time when grading, so I didn't receive much feedback, I don't blame him because he does do a lot inside and outside of the school. He is very flexible and is a great teacher.

Mr. Erickson was a great teacher at Harbord. I was in his grade 12 English class, and I came back to leave a review years later lol. When I look back at high school, he was a teacher that made a huge impact on the writer I am today, and I definitely wouldn't be half as good without his critiques. Great teacher, and great English course!

Michael Erikson is a terrible teacher. In our pop music courses, he often lectures his pop music course about history, mostly black history, and he gets so into it to the point where it bores everyone. He has been so in talking about history, one time, one of his lectures went from (originally) a 20-minute lecture to an hour 15 minutes(roughly) lecture about the 1950s. At the end of that particular class, he was stammering about what was our assigned homework, he came up with the brilliant idea to "listen to ten songs about the 1950s". Not to mention, his consistency, by forgetting about that homework assignment and never following up with it. He likes to share his political opinions in class, telling us about why capitalism failed his business. He gives long and repetitive homework assignments about "Choose a select person and tell us what he/she did that made an impact around this specific decade" or something like that. For his "supposed" experience in music, he had to read a guide on how loops work in Garageband and gave us an amazing example by failing to sync two instrumental loops and trying to sing over it. I have never actually learned to make music or video edit from his class, being in his class angers me every day, I've written more in his course than an English class. Do not take any courses with this "teacher".
