Mr. Forcolin usually teaches Tech Design (TDJ courses) at Bayview Secondary School. His classes have a ton of assignments and homework every week. If you wanted to take the course to have fun, learn new skills, or make friends, then you are in the wrong place. There is no time to waste in this class because of the rigorous course work and high difficulty. The work itself is not hard, but it is challenging for students because Mr. Forcolin teaches in a poor manner and rarely helps his students to do well. This class requires constant usage of technology and a high amount of memorization on how to use each design software. Please be aware that it is not easy to get a high mark in this class.

Claudio Forcolin is a teacher at Bayview Secondary School. He mainly teaches the Tech-related courses. In Mr. Forcolin's class, students learn how to use design softwares, operate machineries, and many other skills. Forcolin's teaching format relies heavily on students to learn to self-study. Typically, he lectures for about 30 minutes and then asks the students to go on with their work. The lectures or lessons from Forcolin are tedious. Often times, during the lecture, he might ask some odd questions, which causes an awkward silence in the class. Students have to read numerous power points, watch videos, and understand how to use certain softwares by themselves. Forcolin is rarely available for extra help and does not have a tendency to help students do well in the class. So, this causes students in his class to feel unmotivated and makes it difficult to learn. Although some of the assignments that Mr. Forcolin gives to his students are fun and enjoyable to do, Forcolin marks these assignments quite hard. So, it is difficult to earn a high final mark in Forcolin's classes. Due to Forcolin's low tendency to help students do well in the course, it was very challenging for students to learn during the school closure from COVID-19 in 2020. Forcolin did not teach at all during the school closure, but still assigned a ton of assignments. He expected students to complete these by themselves with no proper instructions or tutorials. For example, students had to learn to use a 3-D modelling design software by themselves and make over 10 complicated objects within a few weeks time. Essentially, students had to "teach themselves" because Forcolin did no teaching. An easy way that Forcolin could have done to make the online learning experience for students better during school closure is for him is to screen record video tutorials on how to use the 3-D modelling design software and demonstrate how to make an object. Forcolin could have uploaded these tutorial videos to his Moodle classroom, along with his email so that students could contact him if they have any questions. This would have helped students significantly and this would have been something a good teacher would do. The overall reputation of Claudio Forcolin at Bayview Secondary School is not necessarily pleasant. Students who have taken Forcolin's classes do not often recommend the course, but there may be some students who enjoyed it. If anyone is planning on taking a tech-related course, please consider asking around to see if this class is right for you. If high amounts of work load, tough marking, dull lectures, requirement to teach yourself, and a disagreeable teacher sounds like a class you want to be in, then this is the right class for you.
