CHEMISTRY 11 It's mostly math-based with minimal memorization. Exam and performance task was a bit tricky but the class averages were high-80s to low 90s for my class. Labs were always fun!

Best teacher ever

I loved Miss Durand, especially in grade 12. Grade 11 was tough for most people I would say and I would definitely tell you a majority of kids did better in grade 12 than grade 11, so dont be discouraged from taking physics in grade 12. I would say my best advice for physics is try to understand what the formulas mean, if you understand the formulas, you understand how to apply them. Also, try to focus on understanding the theory, because a lot of time you need that to solve problems.

So far, Ms. Hahn has genuinely been one of the best math teachers ive ever had, she explains things really well and wants you to do well in her class. The only thing I would say is to do your homework. Make sure you finish it and understand all of it, because it will appear on her tests. Even if she assigns a lot make sure to finish it at some point because she does randomly check sometimes. Shes really smart and sweet, and wants everyone to do well, but sometimes she just overcomplicates the tests. It's really annoying, since the questions on her review are almost nothing like the questions on the test, and don't really prepare you for the test. She posts her completed lessons on the brightspace, so its very helpful to go back and review and study. Just don't use ANY sort of device she WILL take it away, and pay attention.

Just show respect and do your work, and he'll be more than happy to let you chat with friends during work time and stuff. he really enjoys teaching and does his best as a teacher and in life, so even if your not feeling it make sure to bring a little energy to class ig.

Honestly, do not worry too much in his class; just listen, do your work, and he will evaluate each project fairly so that everyone has a chance to earn a good grade. It is also important to ask questions in his class.

Math - Ms. Ouwehand is a strict but sweet teacher. She taught me for gr 10 and gr 11 gifted math. Her classes aren't hard at all. There are formula's provided on tests and for the performance task, you get a whole page of a cheat sheet. Honestly no complaints.

AP US HISTORY // US HISTORY (same class) First of all, the above courses are taught in the same class so if you signed up for regular American History, do yourself and tell guidance to change it to AP US History since that way your transcript will make you look better. Alright, so this course was amazing despite its difficulty. I enjoy history in the 20th century but still liked 1600-1960s history. The course includes many projects and has difficult tests and quizzes. There are few notes but lots of memorization needed. If you are planning to take APUSH, then this course is not enough. The final exam was very difficult with an average yield of 80%. There are a few essays required and I love how we can peer edit one another's essay unlike any other course.

SCIENCE 10 This course explores Optics, Cellular Biology, and basic Chemistry. The unit tests are quite difficult and I encourage taking the time to memorize the notes. The exam was not that bad and the performance task was generous.

FUNCTIONS 11 If you take this class in semester 2, then chances are that 25% of the class will be grade 10s. The content is very easy and most of it is a review, with the exception of trigonometric identities & functions and finance. The class median was only 86% for some reason, but I assure you, if you are not a primate then you will be able to succeed.

Listen and do the readings. If you’re serious about history he is great and you will learn a lot about perspectives not normally taught in high school. This teacher not only teaches information he teaches how to think critically. I had a super hard time in his class but he was a good teacher
