At the start of the year, he will say you are failing constantly, but as long as you do some of the work on time you will be fine, and at least hand the culminating in you will be fine. He will offer a lot of help if you are falling behind throughout the course.

If you're taking grade 11 or 12 Visual Arts make sure to stay on top of the work. The assignments may feel overwhelming at times but generally just starting them is the hardest part, and seeing the finished result is almost always worth it in the end. The history tests are pretty impossible to study for, aside from looking at your notes of Mr. Cal rambling in class. But don't worry too much about them, the questions are never anything that he doesn't discuss in class. Overall, just make sure to have fun in this class cause it really is great.

Mr. Cal is seriously one of the best teachers that I've ever had. He embodies what educators should be - passionate beyond belief, excellent communicators, patient, inquisitive, and extremely encouraging. He is hilarious and his classes are super engaging. I was really worried at first to jump into grade 11 art without the preq but he was extremely supportive and never hesitated to stay after class or be available at lunch to help me with my work. Even online art in grade 12 with him was wonderful. He managed to continue to teach passionately and crack jokes despite the fact that everyone was kind of over online learning. Mr. Cal pushed me to create, and improve, and continue to get out of my comfort zone as an artist (despite the pushing being annoying at the time) I'm honestly so appreciative for everything. I feel like I've genuinely learned so much and experienced so many different art styles that I would have never thought to try on my own. Thanks again Cal! Everyone who has him, enjoy it and just try your best, that's all he ever wants to see.
