(If you want to get to the important part, skip to the second paragraph. ) I'm still in Mr. Keyes-Renaud's class. He's a great teacher, from my experience, and has been for a while. He's really nice, and will go over something if you ask him to. Never be afraid to ask for help, Mr. Keyes-Renaud is always willing to offer it. I'm not even done the semester and I have really enjoyed being in his class. But at times the class can have slightly fast paced days, and while they aren't too hard and very well manageable, if you are slacking off a bit too much you might miss important things, because Mr. Keyes-Renaud is efficient, at least in my experience. So if you can, focus. And if not, it's not a TOO big deal because Mr. Keyes-Renaud is very understanding. For example I had a fever for 3 days and I fell short on an essay I was supposed to do, but Mr. Keyes-Renaud was very nice about it and he was understanding. But the question is about the CLASS, not the teacher. So enough about Mr. Keyes-Renaud. I will be upfront with you: If you do not like reading or writing, I don't think you will enjoy this class. Even as good as Mr. Keyes-Renaud is, he teaches English, and that has a lot of complex subjects with a lot of reading, often a couple of books per semester, and also you will have to do an essay, and the tests and stuff you will have to write. But once you get your flow you will almost CERTAINLY like the class. I know a lot of people who have prejudices against English, and I was one of those people. I didn't know what to expect, and I had a few experiences with English back in grade 8 (im in grade 9 this year) and I would have given it a 4/10 in grade 8. However, in grade 9, it's definetely more engaging, but not in a forced way. I'd give it a 7. 5/10 now. Learning in this course comes naturally, and for a non-optional course I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that English in general, at least for grade 9, will be a smooth and nearly seamless integration into more complex grammar subjects, writing, and other stuff. This course in general is not overwhelming, except at times when there's a lot of reading, but if you stay on track you will be fine. You will be lucky to have Mr. Keyes-Renaud as your teacher, and everyone's lucky that we have English as the main course for high school (and not science or math). -David Mavrodin, G. 9 for 2024, Markham, ON

Oh man where do I begin? Teacher summary: You will find Mr. Keyes-Renaud to be very nice and will take time to make sure you are caught up (in most cases, sometimes you have to keep up a bit too, like for example reading as a class or reading during class) 9/10 the only thing I think Mr. Keyes-Renaud could improve is class time use (it is still very good, but sometimes periods are dedicated for other things) The course is not too overwhelming. Difficulty: 3. 5/10 Fun: 6/10 Notes: Mellow paced, understandable, understanding lore Tip: Focus on reading, don't fall behind on that or essays. I currently have to complete a paragraph for an essay and I am finished. Thank you for reading.
