You'll do the standard English curriculum work: essays, tests (not too many though), and oral presentations. However, he likes to throw in some fun, creative projects too (e. g. Shakespeare role-playing). Make sure to review all rubrics thoroughly, and you should be good.

He always puts definitions on his tests, so STUDY THESE!!! You'll have quizzes, tests, and some graded homework throughout the term, plus a presentation (worth 10% if I remember correctly) and an exam at the end of the course. There are also opportunities for bonus marks!!!! At any given time (it's too random to predict), he'll give you a question that you'll answer on a piece of paper (harder than usual, but nothing impossible as long as you've been keeping up with the homework). He'll give you a bonus mark if you get the question right - he records all the bonus marks throughout the term, then distributes them to the evaluations you did the worst on (not including the exam).

You will ALWAYS be allowed a formula sheet for tests, quizzes, and the exam. Aside from these, you'll do a lab report and/or assignment for each unit (mostly applying physics formulas and concepts, not a whole ton of writing involved), and if you're in the grade 12 physics course, you'll have an end-of-semester project where you analyze bad physics in film and television (very fun!! ). Test structure is usually multiple-choice, short answer, and POSSIBLY an analysis question where you apply physics concepts.

During an in-person school year, you'll have quizzes, tests and labs throughout the term, plus a final exam worth 30% (10% is a series of lab-based bell-ringers which aren't too hard, 20% is the actual written). Tests are long and can be quite difficult, but they cover everything you've done in class, so as long as you study thoroughly and do all the practice problems, you should be good. Her labs are GREAT because she understands that live experiments rarely work like they're supposed to. If you need to analyze qualitative expectations, she'll just give you the correct data at the end of the experiment. If you need to analyze quantitative data, just use whatever numbers you got from the experiment, and she'll mark you on whether or not you did the calculations correctly.

Tests are given once a semester for his English course, and it's for Shakespeare. However, the questions are incredibly easy (i. e. "Who was Hamlet addressing in this scene? " "Which character gave this iconic line? ") so you'll be alright as long as you're actually reading the assigned material. His English essays are handwritten so be prepared for carpal tunnel if you have him for that. However, many other assignments are done online, especially in his Writer's Craft course. Everything is weighted about the same with the exception of the finals.

Be respectful and kind. As long as you get along with others and the teacher you will have a great time. Utilize your resources and collaborate/interact. Ask help from the teacher because he is always willing to help and it very patient.

The tests cover A LOT of material, so make sure you review your notes daily, it pays off. Participate as much as you can. Write down stuff from class discussions as well, because occasionally she'll put some of that information on tests. Give lots of warning if you need an extension (3-4 days before due date). Most of all, don't let her make you feel stupid if you need clarification or there's something you don't quite understand. Don't take it personally because it isn't a reflection of you, it's a reflection of her as a teacher.

The class is evenly split between written assignments and actual dance, as all RAP dance courses are. You'll have to memorize the exercises relatively fast, but help is always available and a breakdown of each exercise is usually posted on Google Classroom.

She can be very hard edged and strict, but overall if you try hard and are respectful she’ll appreciate that and you’ll do fine. If she seems to have low compassion, there’s a good chance that’s just her not knowing what to do with emotions.

You'll receive paper packets with your information for each unit. Do not lose them, or you're screwed. Tests are a choice between Kahoot and a paper test, but the Kahoot isn't always easy so don't pick that thinking it's the easy way out. There's a lot of videos to watch, and a reasonable amount of note-taking, but it isn't overkill. The game for the WW1 unit is actually really fun and incredibly informative, so be sure to pay attention to what you're doing and engage as much as possible - don't just let your group mates do all the work. Pay attention during review days as well, because everything reviewed in class (and a lot that isn't) will be on the tests.

Review ALL lecture notes, assigned reading, and homework problems before the tests and exam. There are always questions on his tests that ask for nitty-gritty details, so while it's not impossible to do well, you must study VERY THOROUGHLY!!!

The class is really simple. There is some writing, but it is only done in class. There is never any homework, and the only time you will work on the class after school is probably for assignments and tests.
