This class, IB Chemistry SL, is very easy and enjoyable. If you turn in your assignments on time, do the labs (a lot of fun labs, one per week) properly using the instructions, practice the topic for at least 20 minutes per day, ask for help properly, you'll do well and get an easy A. She gives you some practice quizzes that don't count to enhance your learning, then 1-2 culminating quizzes for the unit (retakes allowed), and 1 test per unit (no retakes). Other than that, this class is very easy and fun, the teacher is my favorite, and you are guaranteed a Letter of Recommendation from Dr. Sharma during your senior year (said by herself).

Be prepared to dedicate the majority of your time (~2hours) to doing worksheets & teaching yourself. Many of the slides and worksheets posted can be found online, so you can double-check your work while self-studying. Even then, make sure to do even more work because the test questions are at a much, much higher difficulty than the practice questions.

Just do your homework and don't be intimidate by chemistry. It's actually not that bad break the mental barrier and succeed in that class.

The teacher is a very nice person, but the teaching style can be jarring, especially for those who are not used to being berated. I would ONLY recommend this course to students who are willing to dedicate an obscene amount of time to chemistry and/or taking a relatively easier course load. If you wish to/must take a chemistry course, however, I would recommend taking a summer chemistry course at UW.

I love her. She is literally like a second mother to me. I can go to her and cry during lunch if I fail a test, I can ask her for advice about literally anything, and her door is always open for me to go in. I had her for gen. chem freshman year and she was the one who sparked my interest in chemistry. Then I had her again for IB chemistry in junior year. She has helped me immensely not only in chemistry but in life and she has taught me so many life lessons.
